Chankaska Creek Ranch Winery and Distillery is a vineyard, winery and distillery located in Southern Minnesota. The grounds host multiple outdoor and indoor event spaces. The winery produces the finest cold-climate wine and craft spirits through focused excellence.
Chankaska Creek Ranch and Winery is searching for an Events and Marketing Assistant with marketing background and event management experience along with experience supervising employees. Experience is preferred in social media, InDesign and/or Adobe Creative Suite, strong writing skills, and photo/video editing. The position requires a person with high-energy and creativity who must also have a strong desire to provide and execute first class hospitality. The candidate must have a keen eye for trends and development in the wedding, event, and hospitality industry. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility for event services such as set-up, take-down and shut down of the venue site, facilities, catering, signage, displays, special needs requirements and event security. (Responsible for coordination, planning. logistics and traffic control of all events)
- As manager on duty, lead and direct event staff during an event
- Maintain SOP’s and well-organized event records for various accounts/clients
- Assist in detailing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), including and not limited to layouts, timeline, food and beverage and other relevant event details for various accounts/clients
- Assures that the event spaces are stocked and prepared for daily service
- Knowledgeable on wine and beverage education
- Take ownership and lead in set up, tear down, and cleaning of all event spaces
- Conduct tours of the facility
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors and internal team
- Uphold client event agreements
- Expect to work with clients to plan and execute their event after booking stage is completed
- Listen carefully to needs and preferences of Director of Events
- Maintain a cooperative attitude with Director of Events and provide reports that are accurate and timely
- Complete administrative tasks supporting the Event Operations Coordinator and Director of Events
- Deals with issues including customer complaints, employee complaints and incidents and any other issues arising
- Represent Chankaska at trade shows and other promotional events
- Project a professional appearance while being resourceful, friendly, and persistent with event decision makers
- Assist in website management and other online marketing initiatives including social media, event listings, and other online marketing opportunities to promote business growth
- Work closely with the general manager, tasting room manager, event manager, distribution manger and wine club manager to provide marketing support, promotions and initiatives
- Complete sales-related and marketing administrative projects that include running marketing and sales reports, conducting research on company and other assignments in database.
- Provide assistance in planning and executing internal branding events, weddings and private client events.
- Represent company brand professionally, graciously, and enthusiastically
- Participate in weekly departmental meetings
- Assist in writing and editing sales and marketing materials, which include articles, presentations, sell sheets, posters etc.
- Provide administrative aid for various projects related to marketing, including project meetings schedule, minutes of meeting, transcribe notes and compose memos.
- Prepare press releases, company newsletter and event announcements
- Update and maintain website
- Assist in promotional strategies and product development
- Provide administrative support to Event and Marketing Director and General Manager
- Generate thank you letters, form letters and other mass mailings
- Product understanding, sales forecasts, pricing and position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience with coordinating both large and small special events is preferred
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to make timely and sound decisions
- Ability to focus on multiple tasks and deadlines and effectively prioritize and manage while keeping a strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated, passionate, enthusiastic, focused, creative and positive
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Creative listening and critical thinking skills in a potential high-stress environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
- Ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all level of employees in a team-oriented environment
- Must be available and willing to work evenings and weekends; required
- Must be willing to travel on behalf of the company
- Ability to stand on one’s feet for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of marketing principles
- Email marketing/social media content planning and analytics
- Web design experience preferred.
- Graphic design skills preferred with knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom) and Canva.
- Skilled in drawing insights through customer research data and trend information
COMPENSATION:
- Starting $40,000 Salary- DOQ
- Tip compensation on top of salary
