Job Overview
Citarella's is seeking a Full-Time Wine Store Manager for our Connecticut. While growing, we have maintained our commitment to providing the best quality, value, and service, and are seeking like-minded individuals to join our growing team as a Wine Store Manager

 

Basic Job Function: The Wine Store Manager is responsible for all aspects of the successful operation of the shop. First and foremost, this is a HOSPITALITY position. The Manager is expected to foster a warm, welcoming environment where clients can find favorites but also be exposed to new regions and producers. The Manager is also responsible for mentoring the entire Wine Team, giving them the tools and information, they need to grow into future leaders. Citarella Wine & Spirits Greenwich has seen consistent growth over the last 5 years, and we are looking for a leader to take the shop to the next level. This entails continual sales growth in the shop and extending our reach into the local business and residential community.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • Proven track record as a mentor and educator
  • College degree in Business, Hospitality or certification in wine training or related specialty.
  • 3-5 years of management work experience in the wine industry, including training, managing and developing a team.
  • Demonstrated experience and success with retail management.
  • Excellent sense of organization and follow-through on commitments.
  • Advanced service knowledge and expertise of wines, including vintages, regions, and food pairings.
  • Must have P&L, Ordering and Inventory management experience.
  • Resourceful, highly motivated and dynamic.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and effective manner.
  • Goal oriented with track record of achieving sales and goals.
  • An interest in and passion for wine, spirits, and beer, and the willingness to learn more.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Leads the Wine team in executing the inventory replenishment.
  • Displays strong product knowledge.
  • Actively trains and educates the wine team on products and standards.
  • Manage and implement established receiving guidelines to ensure appropriate practices.
  • Capable of working well independently and with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork and constant communication are essential.
  • Builds partnerships with vendors.
  • Develop and maintain favorable relations with staff, clients and vendors.
  • Develop and implement budgets and adhere to cost and margin requirements.
  • Assist in the pricing process, including Pricing Structures to maximize the potential of plan attainment.
  • Assist with forecasting, implementing and monitoring Wine and Spirits operating budget.
  • Design and implement a cost of goods sold system to accurate track products.
  • Create par levels, conduct and maintain inventory of products based on movement and forecast.
  • Communicate brand, pricing, and execution strategy with staff members.
  • Trains all team members on Merchandising Guidelines and ensures execution.
  • In addition, other duties required as directed by management.

Additional Requirements:

  • Sommelier certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to understand and work with proprietary database.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of position including standing for extended periods of time in refrigerated work areas.
  • Lifting loads of up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to read and write the English language, conduct business related mathematics and analyze data as required.
