Sales Support Specialist (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

  • Are you a natural storyteller who loves working with people? Are you passionate about Oregon wine? Willamette Valley Vineyards is searching for an energetic and customer-focused Sales Support Specialist in the Portland Metro area to join our team of Oregon wine enthusiasts!

The ideal candidate would assist the Sales Department in building strong sales relationships with staff of various positions within prospective and current accounts. They will build and maintain displays, meet and maintain relationships with Key Account Managers and other distributor contacts.

Primary Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Support the WVV Key Account Specialist to increase winery sales efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Communicate directly with each Distributor sales rep assigned to the accounts and prospects.
  • Be informed on and able to communicate quarterly distributor incentives, winery promotions, and available POS. 
  • Increase sales and brand awareness in accounts and prospects with a focus on off-premise accounts that have wine displays.
  • Coordinate and leverage winery demo support with each Demo Ambassador and the WVV Demo Mgr.
  • Pursue authorizations, placements, floor stacks, cold box, and Ads.
  • Build and maintain displays at account.
  • Merchandise company product on client premise.
  • Perform demos in off-premise accounts and coordinate with distributor sales rep on inventory.
  • Activate local volunteer shareholders to achieve winery account goals.
  • Invite account decision makers to the winery, host whenever possible, and coordinate with winery staff to ensure a positive visit.
  • Support and build sales relationships with each account and their Key Account Manager.
  • Updates distributor contacts, account contacts, and brand champs in GreatVines.  
  • Completes in GreatVines and sends via email a weekly recap to appropriate distributor contacts, Key Account Specialist, NW Brand Manager, Sales Coordinator, and CEO.

Direct to Consumer Sales:

  • Invite your customers to WVV to taste and purchase wines. Make sure your client base and leads know to ask for you when they come to Willamette Valley Vineyards to taste. You will need to be available for them when they come in, when possible.
  • Keep database updated of all customer information and build a history. 
  • Assure all orders are placed in a timely manner, shipping details sent to the customer, notes are placed in customer CRM accounts, and required Daily Tracking Sheet google doc is filled out.  
  • Send correspondence cards to your clients; within reason. Sending personal touches like a handwritten thank you card, birthday card, anniversary card, etc will help to nurture your long-term relationship.
  • Consistently hit monthly sales targets.
  • Meets the performance standards outlined in the Commissions Policy & Procedure.  

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 years of experience in customer service
  • Must be able to work early mornings, late nights, and weekends if needed
  • Goal driven, performance oriented.
  • Must live within 60 minutes of the winery

Must have

  • Obtain OLCC Server’s Permit and Food Handler’s Card.
  • A current Driver’s License and a clean/good driving record.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to use standard CRM, Microsoft Office Suite, POS, and department specific related software programs.

Must be able to

  • Lift 40 lbs and navigate stairs and hilly terrain.
  • Stand for long periods of time and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sit for long periods of time.
  • Communicate through active-listening skills and gather accurate insights into human behavior.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and follow through on issues in a timely manner.
  • Multitask, work independently and as part of a team.
  • Build team dynamics and synergy across departments.
  • Work well behind the scenes using discretion and keeping all information confidential.
  • Use point-of-sale (POS) systems, Google services, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Meet and exceed sales goals.  
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions appropriately.

Must be

  • Independently motivated to identify and resolve issues, at department-level.

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Thorough understanding or a genuine interest in luxury wine business and terminology.
  • Ability to educate customers about wine with a passion, not pretension.
