Sales Representative (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

General Responsibilities:

1. Prospecting - Identify, qualify and close prospects and customers to generate profitable sales of Trademark’s outstanding boutique wine portfolio.

2. Selling to New Accounts - Initiate and build relationships with licensed restaurants and retailers to create new sales for Trademark. Study and analyze opportunities in the marketplace, probe to understand customer needs and effectively position products in the Trademark portfolio to meet those needs and generate return for our customers.

3. Selling to Existing Accounts - Build a base of accounts that reliably and routinely purchase product from Trademark. Cultivate relationships with buyers and influencers deep within those accounts. Target – 65 accounts buying monthly.

4. Represent Trademark in a professional, ethical and compliant manner at all times.


Typical Activities:

1. Analyze the marketplace and identify specific segments (type of account, location, new entrants) and customers within those segments. Create marketing programs to raise awareness of our capabilities and generate interest in personal appointments with targeted buyers in those segments.

2. Prospect to specific individuals and businesses within the segment. This involves telephoning to get appointments or making visits to set up in-person meetings.

3. Probe, explore and analyze critical needs and issues to identify situations where the Trademark portfolio can create opportunities for clients to realize profitable returns. The portfolio is comprised of family-owned boutique wineries with representation across most major regions, varietals and price points.

4. Engage in marketing, sampling, tastings, “brown bagging”, merchandising and delivery in support of selling activity.

5. Continuously seek out knowledge and intelligence regarding customer, product, competitive and industry trends. Share observations within the company and apply learnings to selling activity. Be active on social media to help our clients grow their customer base.

6. Maintain a pipeline of all accounts with vital sales information. Regularly report on calling activity including visits, orders, forecasts.

Pre-Requisites:

1. 3-5+ years of sales experience in a business to business environment in the beverage/hospitality industry. Knowledge of fine wine is a must.

2. Must be hard working and willing to put the time in to create a loyal and responsive account base. Specific experience identifying, analyzing, opening and servicing restaurants and retailers would be attractive. Must have a demonstrated track record of increasing sales and responsibility for his/her customers. An established account base among restaurants and retailers would be a plus.

3. Must be able to relate to people, build lasting relationships and manage all types of customers. Versatile, flexible, and willing to work enthusiastically within a constantly changing environment

4. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and possess the ability to understand and identify what is important to people and demonstrate sensitivity to their needs, coupled with solid written and verbal communication skills

5. Wine credentials such as Sommelier or CSW would be beneficial. A willingness to undertake further study of wine to get credentials would be required.

6. An undergraduate degree is preferred.

7. Must be a self-directed individual who is comfortable working without direct supervision.

8. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

9. Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, with a clear driving record.

10. Ability to lift 40 lbs./case of wine

Reporting Relationship:

Reports to the Sales Manager.

Performance Measurements:

1. Growth in profit from the account base.
2. Increasing business with existing accounts.
3. Opening and growing new accounts.
4. Customer satisfaction.

Compensation:

1. This is a commission sales position.
2. Monthly allowance for mileage, phone and incidentals.
