Position Summary:

 

Perform all phases of Winemaking including harvest and bottling line work. Other duties include record keeping and assisting with blending. Job requires the ability to do strenuous physical labor and heavy lifting.

 

 

Duties:

 

The following duties are typical for this position. Employees may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.


MAIN OBJECTIVES

·          Safety, integrity and efficiency in all cellar operations


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:


·       Full Training provided as part of the employment

·       Assist Cellar Supervisor and Winemakers with all duties related to production

·       Assist in operation and maintenance of bottling line

·       Assist in any and all areas of production during harvest

·       Shift work when required

·       Assist maintenance with repairs of cellar and equipment

·       Inform supervisor when equipment requires maintenance and perform LOTO

·       Operates pumps, perform Pump-overs and racking’s, and blend final products

·        Prepares additions for fining, filtering and finishing products or juice and wines

·       Operates filters, centrifuge and processing equipment, including CIP protocols

·       Making chemical additions to juice and wine

·       Moving hoses and equipment

·       Safe operation of a forklift – Training is provided

·       Collect wine/juice samples and general support of the laboratory

·         Adheres to and advances good safety practices

·        Maintain and confirm a sanitary and micro-biologically stable work environment, including Tank/Hose CIP

·        Ensures s sanitation of all areas of Cellar operation

·       Cleaning, sanitizing and sterilizing all winery equipment and facilities

·       Perform all cellar operations the confines of SOP parameters

·        Prioritize the safety of yourself and of those around you during all operations

·       Respect for other staff and customers

·        Mentoring and training of new cellar employees as required

·        Helping in the vineyard as required

·        Advancement to Cellar Technician Level Five with training and time

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

 

 

Requirements

 

·         High School diploma or equivalent

·        21 years of age or older

·        Team leadership skills preferred, including communication, motivation and giving and receiving constructive feedback

·        Ability to communicate in English in both written and verbal forms

·        Ability to follow written instructions and perform to SOP’s

·        Ability to perform basic math – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

·        Ability to read a tape measure

·        Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have proof of current insurance

·        Ability to multi-task

·        Must be able to read and understand measurements for tank gauging

·        Work four 10 hours shifts during the off season and do Shift work during harvest/Crush season

·        Work flexible schedules to include evenings or nights, weekends and holidays during Harvest season

Physical:

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an indoor/Outdoor setting in varying temperatures; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate multiple types of equipment, requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

 

·        Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally move up to 100 pounds

 

Vision:

·         See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing:

·         Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
