The Assistant Hospitality manager is part of a team that manages and coordinates the daily guest and sales activities of the Wine Education staff at Joseph Phelps Vineyards. In addition to sales and guest relations duties, the Assistant Hospitality Managers work directly with the Hospitality Operations Manager to create and execute departmental strategy, in line with company values.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

EXCELLENCE:
The person in this position will often function as a Wine Educator and will be involved in the delivery of direct services to guests. They will be expected to execute at the highest level and lead by example in hospitality and customer service. This person will be solution oriented, and will be proactive in solving problems, and creating opportunities. This position ensures the guest center is in impeccable order, cleanliness, stocked and fully staffed.

GROWTH:
This person will have a small team of Wine Educators reporting directly to them. They will be responsible for creating SMART goals for this team and supporting them in achieving these goals. They will be responsible for their team’s education and professional development.

RESPECT:
The person in this role is responsible for ensuring that each team member feels connected to the team and consistently gives and receives respect from their colleagues. They are responsible for holding direct reports accountable and addressing issues in a timely fashion. They are also responsible for impeccable communication-both within the team, and from the team to the guest, ensuring that a consistent message is being delivered, in line with our mission and legacy. This person supports our seven day a week business schedule and is flexible when coverage is needed due to events, vacation, or illness.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•  Two to four years related experience.
•  Knowledge of wines and wine production.
•  Commitment to excellence and high standards.
•  Excellent written and oral communication skills.

•  Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills.
•  Professional appearance and demeanor.
•  Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
•  Excellent customer service skills.
•  Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, margins, percentages, gross and net sales, cost of goods, etc.
•  Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels and the public.
•  Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
•  Demonstrated ability to make successful presentations to individuals and groups.
•  Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating direct reports.
•  Basic competence in direct reports’ duties and tasks.
•  Proficient on Excel, Word, AMS and Outlook.
