Ironhand Vineyard is a small boutique winery that aspires to compete with wines from across the world. Producing both white and red varietals, our wines are made from a variety of classic European varieties, as well as American hybrids. All aspect of winemaking, from grape harvesting to bottling, are performed on Ironhand’s estate in South Bend.

This April, Ironhand is excited to announce they will be opening up a tasting room in downtown South Bend in The Armory (727 S. Eddy St). The Armory is a historical building overlooking the St. Joseph river in the market district of South Bend. Not only does The Armory host our wine tasting room, but it also houses a commercial kitchen and event space.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, energetic and positive individual to lead and manage our tasting room operations. Our ideal candidate will ensure a high-quality guest experience, promote sale of wines and build Ironhand’s brand loyalty and image. 

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

·      Hire, build and manage a team of tasting room staff

·      Self-motivated salesperson who is passionate about sales and communicating their wine knowledge with their staff and guests

·      Must provide a high-quality experience for all tasting room guests

·      Team player, that works well with others and thrives off of setting an example for their tasting room team

·      Supervise tasting room staff and promote a positive and efficient work environment

·      Conduct educational tastings and training sessions for tasting room staff to ensure the staff is well-versed in new procedures and products 

·       Sell and promote wines by creating sales techniques

·       Assist in educating guests in tasting wines and making purchasing decisions

·       Manage point of sale system and train employees efficiently on the POS system

·       Ensure that the tasting room maintains a clean and pleasant appearance

·       Enthusiastically communicates wine knowledge to staff and consumers in a manner that helps with Ironhand wine sales and brand image

·       Attendance of offsite events to further promote Ironhand wines

·      Proactive and able to address tasks and issues with minimal supervision 

·      Must be punctual, reliable and able to work weekends/nights

·      Open & close tasting room as scheduled

·      Maintain professional and welcoming environment for all guests and employees

·      Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment 

Physical Requirements: 

·      Must be 21 years of age or older

·      Comfortable standing for long periods of time

·      Able to lift 45 lbs.

·      Valid Driver’s License

·      Job Type: Full time

Required Experience: 

·      Hospitality Management: 3 years

·      Previous winery experience, as well as wine knowledge is a plus 

Required Education:

·      High School Diploma or Equivalent
