Tasting Room Manager (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

Summary:

 

Ensure that guests’ expectations are exceeded by providing a quality, consistent and friendly tasting room experience.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Understands and enforces company values and service standards.

• Ensure the safety of guests and associates.

• Ensures that all tasting room associates follow proper operating procedures and company values and service standards.

• Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given a responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times.

• Schedule labor as required by anticipating business activity while ensuring all labor cost objectives are met efficiently.

• Achieve objectives in sales, service, quality, and cleanliness as set by the General Manager. 

• Execute commission program for sales staff by monitoring sales efforts and making corrections as necessary. 

• Train new associates on tasting room procedures and alcohol laws.

• Monitor monthly departmental sales and costs as compared to budget making sure the tasting room operates efficiently.

• Understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to alcohol consumption, safety and labor requirements of the tasting room associates and guests.

• Control cash and other receipts by adhering to proper cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance to company guidelines.

• Be knowledgeable of winery policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures.  Hire, train, coach, correct and terminate associates when needed.

• Ensure appropriate supply levels are maintained on hand including glasses, wine, bags, small wares, etc.

• Monitor the POS system and act as a liaison with Vin65 on all POS issues. Program Vin65 as necessary

• Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.

• Understand and adhere to environmental standards set by the winery.

• Assist and confer with General Manager in the hiring, advancement, evaluation, and termination of staff in the department.

• Plan and execute special events on property for guests.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to provide direction to associates in a respectful manner.

• Exhibits integrity (honesty and truthfulness).

• Has attention to detail.

• Is consistently striving to be better.

• Courteous and has the ability to smile spontaneously.

• Seven plus years experience as a Customer Service or Retail Manager in a similar venue. 

• Ability to make quick and sound decisions.

• Computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Expert wine knowledge.
