Irrigation Technician & Ranch Support (Seasonal) (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

Oak Knoll Farming is looking for a seasonal irrigation technician at a 50-acre ranch on Spring Mountain with a strong reputation for premium wine grapes. 

The irrigation technician would manage irrigation to achieve optimal vine growth and fruit maturity. This individual should understand deficit irrigation, how to troubleshoot problems with pumps, valves & drip lines, and how to conduct basic system repairs, among other duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position would include but not be limited to the following responsibilities:
•  Irrigate vineyard blocks and maintain irrigation system 
•  Maintain an irrigation log
•  Conduct basic irrigations system repairs
•  Fertigate when requested
•  Crop estimation: cluster counts and weights
•  Harvest sampling
•  Harvest duties including support to vineyard crew in sorting and delivery of fruit 
•  Support vineyard crew when not irrigating
•  Special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
•  Viticulture or Enology coursework preferred
•  One season experience preferred
•  Must have own transportation
•  Bi-lingual a plus (Spanish)
•  Must have a clean driving record 
•  Ability to operate an ATV on steep terrain

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 
•  Valid International/California Driver's License and clean DMV record required.

Anticipated time frame of position: Immediate Start – Oct

Must be able to work independently for extended periods of time and remain on task. Person must be able to work outside for extended lengths of time during periods of extreme weather performing physical labor. Must be a strong communicator.
