Pellegrini Wine Company, a small, family-owned winery located in West Santa Rosa, is seeking individuals eager to assist with our fall harvest. This is an opportunity to work within a small team focused on small-lot, hand-crafted wine production techniques.
Pellegrini Wine Company specializes in the production of small lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from our estate, the Olivet Lane Vineyard, as well as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel from other Russian River Valley sites. In addition to the production of our own wines, we also serve as a premium custom crush facility for select winery clients from across Sonoma County.
We are looking for people with genuine interest and great enthusiasm for crafting wines of exceptional quality. The ideal candidate will have prior harvest experience, but enthusiastic applicants without direct cellar experience are encouraged to apply. What we do require, above all else, is a positive attitude. Additional job requirements include a passion for wine, effective communication skills, dependability, ability to work well within a team, keen attention to detail, willingness to work hard, get dirty and wet, and clean scrupulously. Interns must be able to perform strenuous physical tasks, such as bending, lifting up to 50 pounds many times a day, and ascending/descending ladders for shifts upwards of 12 hours per day.
Pellegrini Harvest Interns work closely with the Winemaker in carrying out a variety of hands-on winemaking tasks, including (but not limited to): fruit sampling, grape processing, yeast inoculations, fermentation additions, punchdowns, juice racking, barrel filling, barrel stirring and topping. These daily tasks will be performed around a core of cleaning duties, preceded and followed by more cleaning; wash, rinse, repeat. We are seeking individuals who will take great care in attending to the wines and have fun while doing so.
Applicants should be prepared to work a variable schedule and extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays. The estimated timeframe for this position is from mid-August through the end of harvest season (typically two to three months), with potential opportunity for extended work, starting as early as July. The hourly pay rate is dependent upon experience.
