Gruet Winery’s Santa Fe location is hiring part-time customer service staff for the Tasting Room located at the historic St. Francis Hotel in downtown Santa Fe.

COMPANY BACKGROUND
Founded in 1984, Gruet Winery specializes in Method Champenoise sparkling wines. Founded by the Gruet family, the New Mexico-based winery produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay-based sparkling wines and a small collection of still wines, with roots originating from Gilbert Gruet’s Champagne house in Bethon, France. Nearly 30 vintages later, Gruet Winery has achieved unprecedented acclaim and remains a favorite of the nation’s top sommeliers. 

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting directly to the Tasting Room Manager, the Tasting Room Associate ensures quality experiences for guests while maintaining a professional and friendly attitude. Associate is in contact with the public on a daily basis promoting and selling our products via wine tasting and winery knowledge. Associate may be asked to work wine events after normal business hours on-and-off-site. We are looking for part-time and seasonal availability and flexibility to also work weekends and holidays.

Start Date: Immediately 
Compensation: Commission on sales as well as customer tips plus base hourly rate

JOB SPECIFICS
•  Conducts wine tastings
•  Applies customers service skills
•  Ambassador on behalf of Gruet Winery to the public
•  Direct-to-consumer salesperson selling bottles and cases of Gruet wines
•  Promotes Wine Club
•  Answers phone calls, takes phone orders and messages
•  Supports winery needs at special events which may be offsite and outside of normal business hours
•  Organizes the work place on a daily basis, including cleaning duties at beginning and end of shift
•  Stocks wine and retail items
•  Communicates with the Tasting Room Manager on inventory and supplies needed
•  Helps to carry orders out to customer vehicle if needed
•  Performs other, unspecified duties as needed and assigned
•  Performance will be measured on ability to work independently as well as part of a team, manage time, multitask, prioritize objectives, communicate effectively, and most importantly connect with customers while providing quality and timely service.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

•  1 year direct customer service or sales/retail experience
•  Outstanding customer service and sales skills
•  A passion for and sound knowledge of wine or willingness/ability to study and learn quickly 
•  New Mexico Alcohol Server’s License and Food Handler’s Certificate are required 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Tasting Room Associate should have the ability to stand and be mobile for long periods of time and crouch for supplies. Employee will have to occasionally lift cases of wine nearing 50 lbs. The Tasting Room work environment may be a loud and busy.
