Firelands Winery, originally Mantey Vineyards, is one of Ohio’s oldest wineries still in operation. Currently we are looking for a full-time assistant winemaker.
We are looking for a person who is
- Very mechanically inclined.
- A problem solver
- Ability to manage time and handle multiple projects
- Working knowledge of pumps, presses, filtration is a plus
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Willingness to continually learn
- Must be able to follow and execute all verbal and written work orders given by the Winemaker
- Able to measure and do basic calculations
- Sanitation, Sanitation, Sanitation
- Able to work long hours 6 days a week during the harvest season
- Must be able to lift and carry 55 pounds
- Knowledge of fermentation a plus
- Must be able to squat, bend, twist, crawl, lift and climb safely
- Must be ok with heights and confined spaces
- Must be able to work in all different environmental conditions
- Excellent communication skills
- Follow all safety precautions and protocols
- Team player but also able to execute task independently as directed
- Assist in the vineyards as needed
- Knowledge of wine and an aptitude for sensory evaluation a plus
- Forklift certified a plus
