Job Description:

Joel Gott Wines is hiring a harvest grape sampler to assess maturity in our Central Coast vineyards. The position is based in San Luis Obispo and may include a territory stretching from Santa Barbara County up to Monterey/San Benito counties. We are looking for a motivated team member who is looking to gain further knowledge of viticulture and the wine industry.

DUTIES:
•  Collect berry samples and deliver to winery

•  Collect and report crop estimates
•  Assess maturity and vine development and record field observations
•  Manage personal sampling schedule and coordinate daily route to ensure timely results
•  Assist lab team in processing juice samples for analysis and tasting
•  Data entry of sample results and field notes
•  Assist grower relations team with compiling and filing seasonal viticulture notes

REQUIREMENTS:
•  Viticulture coursework or previous harvest experience preferred but not required
•  Hard working, ability to follow written and verbal instructions
•  Ability to clearly and accurately document information
•  Ability to work long hours, weekends
•  Extensive walking and ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
•  Exposure to outside elements and physical work (lifting, bending, climbing, squatting)
•  Valid CA driver’s license and clean DMV report required
