Graphic Designer (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

REPORTS TO: VP Marketing

FUNCTION: The Graphic Designer position is responsible for the design and creation of projects supporting the company’s image and messaging. This is inclusive of the design of sales support materials that are developed for annual campaigns, print and digital advertisement creation and re-sizing, social media imagery and graphics, and presentation materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. SAFETY: Maintains a high level of safety awareness by attending safety meetings and training. Responsible for adherence to all safety procedures.
  2. GRAPHICS DESIGN: Working with the marketing and management teams, creates high-quality, image-enhancing pieces including but not limited to advertising, logo designs for specialty projects, sales tools, event-related materials, and templates for internal forms.
  3. PHOTOGRAPHY: Under the direction of the VP Marketing, responsible for the development, creation and editing of various high quality photographic images for use in a large range of marketing materials, advertising, social media and other areas within the company. Works with agency photography partners in order to have access to a current library of photography that will be used in J. Lohr Winery marketing materials and advertisements.
  4. SALES AND MARKETING SUPPORT: Collaborates with the VP Sales Services and VP Marketing on various vetted and prioritized marketing projects to support the sales team, such as designing one-time sponsor advertisements, distributor book ads, specialty printable POS items such as sell sheets and shelf talkers ,and food and wine pairing tools. Creates company templates and materials, such as sales or management powerpoints, that can be used for meetings and presentations.
  5. GRAPHIC ASSET MANAGER: Manage the overarching library of photography and visual assets. Serve as the marketing resource for archiving all visual assets and replying to inquiries on location and availability.
  6. WEBSITE AND TRADE SITE: In collaboration with Senior Marketing Director, work with the third party web firm to guide the overall creative and layout of the website and trade site.
  7. TEAMWORK: Adheres to and supports company policies and decisions in a positive manner. Cooperates with personnel in other departments to ensure the best overall results for J. Lohr Winery.
  8. OTHER DUTIES: As with all positions at J. Lohr Winery, other jobs or special projects may arise outside the realm of this job description. Doing other assignments on a fill-in basis is expected of every employee.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   1. A valid Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to the Winery’s insurance carrier is required for this position.
  2. Bachelor degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing or other similar degree highly desired.
  3. Minimum 3 to 4 years of graphic design experience with a strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the graphic design field. Advanced level skills using Adobe Creative Suite are required.
  4. Excellent communication, influence, and negotiation skills are required in order to work effectively with a variety of people.
  5. Strong computer skills, including efficient use of email, powerpoint, word processing and spreadsheets, as well as Internet research capabilities are required.
  6. Strong reasoning skills, judgment and problem-solving skills are required in order to prioritize and coordinate multiple activities; analyze and resolve problems, and represent J. Lohr Winery to the public.
  7. Demonstrated ability to effectively foster teamwork is required.
  8. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires the following levels of physical activity:
  • Extensive (2/3 of the time) sitting, fine manipulation with both hands.
  • Some (less than 1/3 of the time) standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching over shoulder level, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; simple grasping, pushing/pulling with both hands.
  • Visual capabilities: close and distance, color, depth perception, peripheral vision and adjustment of focus.

9.WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position entails   exposure to the following environmental conditions:

  • Drives automotive equipment.
  • Noise level exposure: Moderate.
