As a LUX Wine Manager, you’ll be working closely with various distributors to drive the sales of the LUX Brands in fine wine retail and on-premise accounts within Northern and Southern California. The LUX Wine Manager will take their passion for fine wine and build strong distributor programming and account relationships, manage education initiatives, event activations, and spokesperson visits. The LUX Wine Manager will be part of an encouraging team that highly values new opportunities presented.

What You Will Do

  • Manages the sales of LUX premium brands within Northern and Southern California
  • Promotes positive relationships across the winery sales organization.
  • Participates in and conducts training for winery and distributor sales personnel as well as account personnel (wine tasting and wait staff training).
  • Makes regular sales calls on all relevant Fine Wine and Fine Dining accounts in the assigned markets to provide the primary relationship between the account and LUX.
  • Improves distribution and sales rate of winery products by executing focused sales strategies and efforts.
  • Presents programs to winery and distributor sales organizations.
  • Participates in spokesperson initiatives.
  • Communicates/promotes the winery’s premium brand marketing activities to the winery’s sales organization.
  • Supports the winery’s product education efforts for LUX premium brands.
  • Demonstrates and above average wine knowledge.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 7 years of premium wine or spirits sales experience including on premise wine sales, wine sales management or sommelier experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of Gallo winery sales or Gallo affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR 11 years of premium wine or spirits sales experience including on premise wine sales, wine sales management or sommelier experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Required to travel by air and car as to execute job duties.
  • Valid driver’s license. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Required to obtain Liquor License as required by state/locality.
  • High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 7 years of Gallo winery sales or Gallo affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience with selling Gallo premium or luxury brands.
  • Skilled in all basic fine wine training (Gallo Wine Academy, Napa, Sonoma, and Central Coast); currently be in the process (within 6-9 months) of CSW certification.
  • Sommelier certification levels II-IV preferred.
  • Skilled in reading, analyzing and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence and press releases.
  • Skilled in effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clientele, customers and the general public.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and utilizing specialized software such as SMIS Data Warehouse, JDE, IRI, Nielson and Spectra.
  • Skilled in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportion, percentage, area, circumference and volume.
  • Skilled in solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Skilled in interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Skilled in seeing, smelling and tasting wine as part of wine tasting.
