Bethel Heights Vineyard, located in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA of the Willamette Valley, is seeking two interns to join our team for the 2023 vintage.

Bethel Heights Vineyard, founded by the Casteel Family in the late 1970’s, is one of the pioneering wineries in the Willamette Valley. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot blanc from our 40-year-old estate as well as Justice Vineyard and Lewman Vineyard. Bethel Heights is a 15,000-case winery with a small but dedicated full-time staff. Due to the nature of our size, our harvest interns have the potential to fulfill many different roles in the cellar providing you with an opportunity for growth and enrichment.

This is a seasonal position that will likely start in August or early September and finish in late October or early November, working under the direction of our winemaker, Ben Casteel and his full-time staff. The ideal candidate does not need a formal winemaking education, but at least one or two years of cellar experience is preferred. Characteristics that we’d like to see in our interns are punctuality, enthusiasm, self-motivation, positivity, flexibility, and an appreciation for wine.

Job expectations will include, but are not limited to:
•  Basic lab work (sugars and pH/TA)
•  Bottling/packing
•  Assisting with fruit intake and weight data collection
•  Forklift operation (experience preferred)
•  Fruit picking
•  Fruit sorting
•  Fermentation management - sampling, sugar/temp tracking, cap management, additions
•  Pressing - draining ferments, digging out, etc.
•  Racking
•  Barreling down
•  Barrel washing/steaming
•  Winery cleaning, tidying, and sanitation
•  Other general winery operations/maintenance

Compensation is competitive and DOE and near-site housing can be provided. Almost all harvest lunches are included. 

Candidates must be flexible, able work varying lengths of shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, climb ladders and flights of stairs, stoop and kneel, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. repeatedly. Must have the right to work in the US. Must comply with all safety protocols and perform all winemaking duties with the utmost duty of care.
