We are seeking friendly, knowledgeable, and customer-focused Wine Tasting Ambassadors/Servers to join our team at Palos Verdes Wine Club! As a Wine Tasting Ambassador/Server, you will provide an exceptional experience for customers by guiding them through wine tastings, serving high-end plates/food, sharing knowledge about our wines, and ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere in the South Bay's brand new tasting room and kitchen!

Key Responsibilities:

Wine Service:

• Greet guests as they arrive and provide a warm and welcoming environment.
• Pour wine for tastings.
• Lead guests through wine tastings, explaining the characteristics, history, and production process of each wine.
• Answer questions about the winery, wines, and the surrounding region, ensuring an educational experience.
• Ensure guests understand the proper tasting etiquette and are comfortable throughout the experience.
• Create a memorable and enjoyable experience that encourages return visits and positive word-of-mouth.

Food Service and Private Events

• Welcome guests to the club
• Educate customer on food menu, take orders, run food
• Occasionally buss tables and do clean-up.
• Support private parties and events with food/wine service with the duties included within this description.

Sales:

• Encourage wine purchases, club membership, and other products available in the tasting room.
• Provide information about food specials, limited-edition wines, and upcoming special events.
• Achieve sales goals by actively promoting wine sales and merchandise sales.

Tasting Room and Kitchen Maintenance:

• Maintain a clean and organized tasting room environment, ensuring all areas are neat and presentable.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of tasting events or group reservations.
• Monitor inventory of glassware, tasting notes, and promotional materials, ensuring everything is stocked and ready.

Customer Service:

• Address any guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
• Ensure that each guest feels valued and leaves with a positive impression of every featured winery and the food menu.

Safety & Compliance:

• Monitor guest consumption of alcohol and ensure that all laws and policies regarding alcohol service are followed.
• Maintain an awareness of safe alcohol service practices and adhere to local regulations.

Qualifications:

• Passion for wine and wine sales is a must!
• 2+ years in a customer service, hospitality, or retail role preferred.
• Knowledge of wines, winemaking, and the wine industry is a strongly preferred, but not required—training will be provided.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to engage and educate guests.
• Ability to work well in a team environment and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
• A friendly, approachable demeanor and passion for providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Must be of legal age to serve alcohol in California.

Additional Skills/Attributes (Optional):

• Certification from a recognized wine or hospitality organization (e.g., WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers).
• Experience with POS systems or cash handling.
