As RG|NY’s Winemaker, you would be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the production of premium quality wines. We are looking for someone with a full understanding of grape growing and winemaking with hands-on experience with harvest decision making and logistics, fermentation, over all wine production, blending, and bottling. Owners want a winemaker they can trust and lean on for advice and guidance as it related to production.

About us:
RG|NY is a 200-acre property located in the North Fork of Long Island, NY, with a 95 acre vineyard producing an average of 300 tons of grapes annually.
We are a family of winemakers with a deep regard for our heritage. Our Mexican roots bring a unique perspective to our business. We value our family’s tradition of wine-making and aim to foster the Rivero González legacy as we enter this new chapter in NY. The Rivero González family is characterized by being true to their values including quality, heritage, craft, innovation, and community. The result is a new, but thoughtful, take on winemaking.

Job Responsibilities:

Grape and Wine production:
•  Grape and wine production yearly plan.
•  Develop and implement strategy to optimize yield and grape quality control.
•  Harvest decision-maker for 14 grape varieties (avg of 320 tons per year)
•  Managing all aspects of grape delivery and wine production from harvest to bottling (avg of 80,000 bottles per year) including 2 external Custom Crush facilities.
•  Responsible of grape sales and follow up to harvest dates and grape delivery logistics to external clients (~50% of total production).
•  Coordinates, perform or supervises chemical analysis on all wines.
•  Track cost control for wine production.
•  Keep track of grape and wines records traceability, analysis, and control.
•  Manage logistics and purchases of bottling and enological supplies.
•  Manage the bottling and labeling of all the wines.
•  Provides expertise and recommendations on: purchasing new equipment when needed, grape variety, clone and rootstock for new plantings and new winemaking practices.

Marketing and Public Relations:
•  Host wine experiences, wine conferences, virtual tastings, blending sessions, wine and food pairings, and others.
•  Create tasting notes for all wines releases.
•  Commercial staff training.
•  Active participation on Marketing and public relations.
•  Coordinates entries to wine competitions.
•  Acts as a brand representative.
•  Assists in developing marketing strategies for wine products.
•  Conducts special events where the winemaker is requested, scheduled or required as the subject matter expert.
•  Participates in the industry networking and media events.

Qualifications:
•  Oenology and Viticulture degree plus minimum 2 years of experience in the field.
•  We are seeking an ambitious and energetic wine lover.
•  Self-motivated, independent thinker with a high standard of success.
•  Intermediate or greater skills in Microsoft Office Suite required.
•  Superior organizational skills and detail oriented.

General Requirements
•  Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus.
•  Valid US driver’s license.
•  Authorized to work in the USA (valid passport, social security card, or permanent resident card)
