JOB SUMMARY

Supervises Cellar employees, provides performance feedback, including discipline and directs workforce. This position requires expertise to become subject matter expert of all winemaking related equipment, including ability to train employees and effectively communicate theory of equipment operation, process workflow, and troubleshooting expertise.  Validates and maintains training records for Cellar staff. Leads Cellar staff in attainment of Safety goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Schedules staff per workload with input from the Senior Cellar Manager
  • Supervises Cellar employees and directs the workforce
  • Assist with hourly staff performance reviews
  • Assist in hiring, training, and supervising seasonal cellar harvest employees
  • Participate in researching items for Capital Expenditures
  • Responsible for updating Material Safety Data Sheets as required. Maintains knowledge and understanding of hazardous material and safety procedures assuring adherence by staff
  • Subject Matter Expert on all wine processing equipment.
  • Organize and implement periodic training seminars, including; Train the trainer, equipment theory of operation, Safety in the Workplace, process troubleshooting
  • Organize, track, and validate training effectiveness and skill level prior to qualification of cellar staff
  • Organize, track, and validate skills maintenance of all cellar staff
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Responsible for all Cellar SOP’s, including; research, validation, implementation.
  • Lead staff to refine, implement, and analyze processing methodologies in order to improve efficiency and first pass quality
  • Develop, implement, and keep current Process Map for each machine/activity, to include monitoring, logs, and process troubleshooting with goal of increasing efficiency and first pass quality
  • Provide training documents and service to other TWG sites

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of ten (10) years winery processing experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong communication (verbal/written), problem solving, decision-making, coaching, training, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and author equipment SOP
  • Must be able to troubleshoot process and equipment to root cause and develop/implement continuous improvement ideas
  • Advanced knowledge of principles and practices of winemaking equipment operation
  • Strive for continuous improvements in all areas of responsibility and maintain awareness of current technological advancements.
  • Utilize MS Office tools 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Support and model all company procedures and policies

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to work at heights up to 45 feet
  • Ability to operate various types of machinery to include, but not limited to, lift trucks, dump trucks, and all Winery processing equipment
  • Must be able to lift and carry weights of up to 50 pounds at varying frequencies
  • Possess the ability to work in a fast pace environment under pressure
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the performance of various task in the production environment
