Cave B Estate Winery is looking for an Assistant Winemaker to join our dynamic team. We are an Estate Winery located on the Western border of the Ancient Lakes of Columbia Valley AVA with our vineyards overlooking the Columbia River. Our oldest vineyards were planted in 1980 and the Cave B label started in 2000. We are directly adjacent to the Gorge Amphitheater and share those spectacular views. With some of the warmest vineyard sites in our AVA, a 30 day difference in frost free days from our warmest site to our coolest, along with varied soil types and depths (thanks to the Missoula floods) we grow a wide range of grape varieties. We are looking for someone with a passion for not only wine but grape growing too as we are an estate winery with all of our vineyards surrounding us. Cave B is an expanding business with additional tasting rooms in Woodinville and Tri-Cities and we are looking for the perfect addition to our team.

Some of the Assistant winemaker duties will include:

•  Help oversee all barrel work in the cellar
•  Assist with work-orders, and data entry (familiarity with Vintners advantage a plus)
•  Provide winemaking technical support to the head winemaker and cellar staff
•  Performs lab work and record data into winery management software
•  Oversees compliance and safety
•  Takes a leading role in bottling operations
•  Makes up samples for blending trials and participates in blending
•  Ability to take lead in all cellar work including but not limited to filtration, racking, tank cleaning and sterilization, general winery cleanliness.
•  Will be in charge of daily operations in the cellar and ensure consistent workflow
•  Assure quality control during all aspects of wine production
•  Responsibility for the quality and execution of work, review, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and safety
•  Active in all aspect of harvest, inoculations, and all additions and juice adjustments
•  Supervise grape receival, crushing, pressing and wine production operations during harvest

Requirements:

•  Degree in Viticulture and Enology or a minimum of 5 years work experience in a winery
•  Decent level of mechanical and technical aptitude
•  Must have strong communication skills and leadership attributes
•  Friendly, kind, positive attitude and a hard worker
•  Must be forklift proficient
•  Computer literacy- experience with Microsoft Office
•  Ability to speak basic Spanish is a plus but not essential
•  Ability to work long hours during critical stages (harvest, bottling, etc.)
•  Ability to perform physical tasks and lift up to 70 lbs.
•  Strong organizational skills, problem-solving, and ability to meet deadlines

This may be an hourly or salaried position with benefits depending on experience.
