Sextant Wines is a family owned and operated team of wineries based in Paso Robles, CA, known for their award-winning Zinfandel’s and very special Bordeaux and Rhone blends. Our family has tasting rooms in both Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo where the main office is located. The winery is growing and needs energetic and efficient Cellar and Harvest Interns with the right attitude to join their Paso Robles team.
Please Note: We are looking for someone temporary full-time. This position has a start date in July and concludes in November or December. Please only serious applicants apply with this in mind.
Position Details
• Cleaning and sanitation in all areas (facility and equipment)
• General cleanup and organization
• Equipment set-up, operation and maintenance
• Wine transfers, racking and blending
• Preparation of samples
• Barrel operations, racking, filling and topping
• Chemical additions to wine and juice
• Periodic inventory of barrels, wine additives and winery equipment
• Frequent standing, walking, climbing up and down stairs, ladder use and heavy lifting
• Accustomed to working in cold, wet, slippery, and noisy environments
• Other duties assigned by management
• Support the team by assisting in other areas when needed
• Availability to work weekends, holidays and special events
Qualifications
• Ability to lift 55lbs
• 21 years of age is preferred
• Prior experience operating machinery is a plus
• Comfortable with handling hazardous materials in a safe manner (training available)
• Organized, with strong written and verbal communication skills, conversational Spanish speaking ability is a plus
• Thorough in completion of tasks including keeping accurate records
• Able to work long hours, including overtime, in a fast paced environment
• Self-motivated individual who takes initiative to complete tasks within a timely manner
• Strong desire to learn new skills and demonstrate a well-developed attention to details
• Must follow and observe safe cellar practices
• Wine knowledge/experience and the ability to speak comfortably about wine and wine making is preferred
• Strong teamwork orientation with great social skills and ability to work closely with other employees
