Hosmer Winery (Patrician Verona vineyard) is looking for enthusiastic, hardworking individuals to join our team for the 2019 vintage. We are an estate grown winery, processing 150-200 tons during harvest. We sell an additional 200 tons of fruit off of our farm to local wineries. Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes region in New York State, our 72 acres are located on the West side of Cayuga Lake. We work with primarily vinifera (Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, etc). and a smaller portion of our portfolio is hybrid (Cayuga White, Seyval Blanc, and DeChaunac).
Candidates must possess a passion for vineyard and winery work, be quality focused and have a willingness to work hard. Hours can be long during the peak of harvest. Must be able to maintain a good attitude and work ethic during the long days.
Tasks include, but are not limited to bin inspection, fruit processing and receival, tank and fermentation management, laboratory/daily wine analysis, sanitation, barrel work, vineyard sampling, and press work.
Requirements and Qualifications:
• Previous experience preferred, but not required
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work 10-12 hour days, 6 days a week, during our peak harvest period
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to bend over, kneel, reach, and balance on/climb ladders
• Ability to work in all types of weather and climates (hot, cold, windy, wet, etc)
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols
• Must possess a can-do attitude and be willing to perform a variety of sometimes monotonous tasks
• Job will start at the end of August, and has the potential to go until late November. Potential to start earlier if interested in Tasting Room/Cellar Door work.
• Occasional driving of a company vehicle may be required, having a valid drivers license is preferred
This is a paid position. Compensation is competitive based on experience.
