The Wine and Spirits  Business Analyst will be responsible for leading the conversion of raw data and quantitative feedback into meaningful and impactful insights and sharing that with store owners and management teams. Sound intriguing? Analyses may include sales forecasting, opportunity identification and evaluation of program performance for the wine companies. The Wine and Spirits Business Analyst will act as a consultant on an individual basis to each of the independently owned and operated Stew Leonard’s Wine and Spirits stores.

 

YOUR DAY TO DAY:

 

·         Collaborate with management and owners as requested to identify and suggest opportunities for business growth; done so through diving into the data drawn from a variety of sources.

 

·         Identify business needs and designs appropriate reports using programs such as Power BI to digest the data. Ensures data accuracy and integrity on all reports and information shared.  

·         Measure ROI on selected programming/ sales/ marketing efforts as requested by owners by working with Operations Consultant and Director of Wine to determine evaluation criteria.

·         Evaluates the potential impact of pricing modifications or prospective programming elements by reviewing pertinent sales data, research, and comparable examples to forecast sales.

·         Uncover market and brand opportunities by developing an understanding of category, customer and market dynamics and use this knowledge to assess brand performance.

·         Measure risk to sales plan (gap analysis) by comparing the plan to historical sales data, current trend information and marketplace developments; reports potential shortfalls to management.

·         Maintains accurate and up to date data in all systems required to perform the essential functions of the analyst job including inventory systems and website maintenance.

·         Maintains customer and owner confidence by keeping appropriate information confidential.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

 

Education, Certifications and /or licenses:

 

·         Bachelor’s degree required preferably in business, finance, Computer Science or similar and/or equivalent training and work experience

·         Driver’s License or Reliable means of transportation to visit locations as requested by Owners

Experience:

 

·            3-5 years Financial, Sales, Marketing, or Business analysis experience; in retail or consumer packaged goods preferred

·            An interest in wine, beer, and spirits. Formal training not necessary

Knowledge/Skills:

 

·         Demonstrated experience using software tools to query and report data (i.e Power BI, SQL Server)

·            Super-user in Excel –Including the creation and use of Pivot tables

·            Coding and back-end maintenance data warehouses

·            Analytical and problem-solving skills, strong critical thinking skills

·            Must be a result oriented professional with excellent verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as strong customer service skills. 

·            Keen attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

·            Independently take ownership of projects to completion by effectively coordinating all necessary resources.

While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly exposed normal business office environment.  The ability to share workspace, travel by car or train or other reliable source of transportation, dress in proper business attire – including while on virtual meetings, and meet deadlines are all requirements of this position.

 

Regular Schedule will be Monday through Friday 8a-5p, with availability and accessibility on weekends and evenings as needed, and around busy holidays.
