California Wineries & Vineyards is seeking a sales manager to cover the territory of Northern and Southern California. The right candidate is a well-organized and highly self-motivated individual with a passion for fine wine, sales, and service. Extensive wine knowledge a must.
Our estate vineyard, Tobias Glen, is a Certified Sustainable Vineyard located in Russian River AVA, produces limited production, award-winning Pinot Noir, Rosé of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
OBJECTIVE
In coordination with the Owner-Managers (Vice President, President) create and implement strategies to:
• Increase strategic restaurant placements of our wines to grow our presence in front of high-end wine collectors/ connoisseurs
• Communicate the winery’s story and the luxury artisan wines to key sommeliers in the high-end market
• Manage the sales and the relati onships with key buyers of the on and off-premises channel sales in both Northern and Southern California, visit 30 accounts per week
• Familiarize the sommelier community with the wine portfolio
RESPONSIBILITIES: On and Off Premise Sales
• Develop and implement sales plan to establish our presence in key accounts in California and other states Identify and build a relationship with prominent sommeliers and key buyers in the market
• Identify and target prominent accounts for the portfolio
• Effectively communicate the winery’s unique and personal story as well as the high quality and exclusive nature of the portfolio
• Provide every account with the maximum level of excellence in customer service from the sales to the wine delivery
• Ensure placement and reorders
• Provide training as needed to sales staff of key accounts
• Identify the potential for winemaker dinner keeping in mind the end goal of increasing DTC sales and our exposure to wine collectors
• Provide thorough and timely information to management on all pertinent sales data
• Regularly meet with Owner-Managers in order to maintain a knowledge base of the wines, winemaking philosophy, vintages, new releases, product availability, awards and press
• Work in collaboration with the Wine Club Manager, Vice President, President, to host qualified trade accounts at the vineyard or appropriate venues
• Follow up key buyer’s appointments with personal emails and notes as appropriate
• Maintain market visits & tastings log to update the owners on a weekly basis
• Maintain good expense records with supporting documents
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work in cooperation with the accountant and the Wine Club Manager to maintain data accur acy and order logistics
• Report to the Vice President and President
• Attend Industry events as directed
•The workweek is Monday to Friday with a possible requirement of up to 20 Saturdays of work a year, may include out of state and international travel
• Keep detail log of samples used
• Review and update sales and marketing materials, develop sales kit for trade and wine writers, wine publications
•Manage and broaden social media marketing strategies
