Wine Educator

Adelsheim is seeking motivated individuals with a passion for Wine and Hospitality to join our Summer team. This past year has challenged us in ways we never thought possible. We learned a lot and we have so much to celebrate and be grateful for!

 

We’re excited to announce that 2021 is our 50th Anniversary as the First winery in the Chehalem Mountains. Also, we are transitioning into a Four Day work week for our Tasting Room Staff and we’ll be shifting back to 7 days a week in May. We’re ready to get back outside to our stunning patio space and show off the natural beauty of our vineyards. We can’t wait to welcome you to our Team!

Seasonal Full Time

This position is seasonal/temporary with expected 32+ hours a week.

**Adelsheim will be transitioning into a Four Day work week for our Tasting Room Staff and will be shifting back to 7 days a week in May

***Full-Time non-seasonal roles are also eligible for 401k and Insurance benefits

Compensation

·          Beginning pay rate for all Wine Educator roles is $15+ per hour plus tips, sales commission/bonus structure

 

W.E.P. (Wine Education Program)

o    For each month with 8+ hours worked you receive $60 in WEP credit.  The credits will continue to accrue until used.

Tasting Room Management

 

Role Purpose:

Responsible for all assigned wine tasting experiences and tours are executed in a smooth, efficient and accurate fashion, while providing guests with an experience of optimum quality that is representative of the Brand’s values. As well as being responsible for selling Wine and Club Memberships.

 

Accountabilities

·          Maintenance and reinforcement of the wineries image and onsite experience, while staying consistent and true to the brand’s reputation in order to develop brand loyalty

·          Able to accurately represent and expound on the History, Character, Style, and overall Brand to visitors

·          Keeps a gracious, engaging, and hospitable attitude with all visitors

·          Develop relationships with Club Members

·          Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from visitors with care, being sure to escalate any issues to Management, when necessary

·          Encourages customers to purchase our wines through enthusiasm and knowledge of product and brand

·          Goes above and beyond to create a memorable experience for the guests

·          Focused on introducing and signing up guests to the wineries Club

·          Is learned in the surrounding area, and able to provide recommendations to their guests upon request

·          Performs Opening and Closing procedures as directed by Management, which includes but is not limited to:

o    Set up and breakdown of tables, chairs, physical inventory counts, housekeeping, and other back-of-the house duties as needed as well as all items related to tasting room events

·          Handles routine sales transactions which include operating cash register and accounting of daily sales with accuracy

·          Operation of the point of sales system, accurately completing and entering wine club forms or shipping orders, fulfilling the guest’s order and carrying the guest’s wine to their vehicle, if necessary

·          Assist with display and stocking of retail items and wines to maintain a high-quality appearance

·          Assist in maintaining cleanliness of facilities as well as identifying and addressing any spaces that require maintenance.  I.e. Rake/Sweep, watering plants, picking up detritus

·          Assist with hospitality special events and outside functions as needed

·          Minimal winery specific work-labeling, capping and bottling

·          Able to effectively promote the wineries special events, sales, and food options

·          Able to conduct a tour of the winery while detailing the winemaking process to guests (when applicable)

·          Assist with other duties as needed by the tasting room management

 

Skills & Requirements:

·          Strong organizational skills

·          Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced environment

·          Excellent communication skills, able to succinctly share key issues

·          Demonstrated ability to be inclusive

·          Ability to adjust to changing business levels as needed

·          21 years of age or older

·          Lift and move up to 40 lbs

·          Load, unload, and relocate full wine cases 

·          Bilingual preferred, but not required

·          A valid, current OLCC license for any position.

·          A valid, current Driver’s License and/or passport and reliable transportation.

·          Strong attention to guests’ experience and concerns; hospitality driven

·          Excellent interpersonal communication skills

·          Be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, while contributing to our friendly, upbeat hospitality

·          Detail-oriented, punctual, self-motivated team player who is able to multi-task

 

Knowledge:

·          Background in Hospitality and Sales

·          Wine Knowledge and Wine Industry Knowledge

·          Competent in Microsoft Office Suite and Emails

·          Working knowledge of POS software programs (Wine Direct Preferred)

·          Entry Level certifications (or above) through any internationally recognized and accredited Wine Professional certification body (WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, etc) and/or equivalent degree of knowledge

 

Experience:

·          3 years of prior experience in a fast paced, guest facing hospitality setting (restaurant or tasting room) with an emphasis on wine knowledge

·          General knowledge of wine, winemaking, and the wine industry

·          Experience with speaking effectively before groups of customers

·          WineDirect POS experience preferred

 

Required Availability:

·          Weekends a must

·          Infrequent nights

·          Flexible schedule via a Four-day 10 hour-format
