Job Description: As a Winery host assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our tasting room operations and ensuring a seamless experience for our guests. Working closely with our estate director, hosts and staff, you will assist in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of the tasting room areas while upholding our standards of service.

Your responsibilities will include:

Tasting room set up and maintenance:

·       Assist in setting up the bar area before tastings, including stocking glassware, marketing materials, cheese boards and water.

·       Ensure tasting rooms are clean, organized and well-maintained throughout the day, promptly clearing empty glasses and trash.

·       Monitor inventory levels and replenish supplies as needed, such as wine bottles, charcutier board supplies, water and marketing materials.

Support Hosts:

·       Assist host during busy periods by making charcuterie boards, printing menus, setting up and tearing down tasting rooms. 

·       Putting wine away and tearing down boxes.

·       Helping fulfill to go wine orders.

·       Maintain communication with host to anticipate their needs and provide timely assistance.

·       Occasionally go shopping for any needed items at the winery, including grocery store, Office Depot or nursery store.

·       Answer phones and schedule tastings.

 

Guest Interaction:

·       Provide friendly and attentive service to guests, ensuring they feel welcome and valued throughout their visit.

·       Assist in facilitating wine tastings as directed by hosts.

 

Cleanliness and Sanitation:

·       Adhere to health and safety regulations, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with company policies. 

·       After every tasting clean tasting room, glassware, utensils, boards to ensure a hygienic environment. 

·       Dispose of waste and recyclables properly, following established procedures for recycling and waste management. 

 

Team Collaboration:

·       Work collaboratively with other members of the tasting room team to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.

·       Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors, sharing insights and feedback to improve processes and guest experiences.

·       Support fellow team members during busy periods, stepping in to assist with tasks as needed.

 

Qualifications:

·       Prior experience as a host assistant, bar back or similar role in the hospitality industry.

·       Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.

·        Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, including cases of wine and stand for extended periods.

·       Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
