Analytical Chemist 

Napa, CA 

Summary: 

Independent Stave Company, a leading global supplier of premium oak barrels and adjunct products to the wine and spirits industry, has an immediate full-time opening for an experienced Analytical Chemist at their internal laboratory based in Napa, CA. The position is responsible for managing and executing the day-to-day laboratory operations and is expected to perform a large variety of routine and complex analytical procedures in the analysis of wine, spirits, and raw materials.

Duties: 

  • Receive samples and maintain active sample log 
  • Prepare analysis schedule and report updates 
  • Prepare and analyze samples with various analytical instruments, including GCMS, HPLC, and spectrophotometer 
  • Generate and deliver reports 
  • Maintain database of historical data 
  • Develop and validate new methodology (GCMS and HPLC methods to improve efficiency or quality, introduce new analysis, etc.) 
  • SOP documentation, implementation, and ISO compliance 
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot when necessary 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: 

  • BS in Chemistry preferred 
  • Experience working with GCMS and HPLC 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint 
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
