Madonna Estate Winery in Carneros, is currently looking for a full-time Harvest Worker to join our team starting ASAP through the end of November, and maybe beyond. We are seeking someone to support the Cellar Master and Winemaker in the operation and supervision of the winery’s cellar operations. The right candidate will be comfortable working in an environment with continuously shifting priorities, seasonal production and flexible scheduling during harvest time. We are willing to train candidates with little experience, however some knowledge of wine production is required. Candidates must be reliable, enthusiastic, motivated and take pride in their work.
Duties Include:
Under close supervision, performs various routine cellar work assignments, which would include, but are not limited to the following:
- Winery sanitation
- Grape receiving, crushing and pressing
- Tank cleaning and preparation
- Juice racking
- Barrel maintenance and handling which also includes cleaning, filling, topping and racking
- Follow safety protocol when handling cellar chemicals
- Punch downs, pump overs and general cap management
Requirements:
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to accurately complete work instructions
- Willingness to work long hours/weekends as needed during harvest
- Ability to climb stairs, stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in high places on ladders, tanks and catwalks
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and move/roll full size wooden barrels
- Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions and inside a cool cellar
Pay: Hourly (based on experience) plus overtime.
