Plata Wine Partners is a dynamic and growing wine company currently bottling over 450K cases of wine annually across multiple AVAs, varieties and styles. Our vegan and sustainably-grown wines are sourced from our own vineyards throughout California, from Napa and Sonoma in the North, down through the Central Coast. Founded in 2005, Plata is a “B-to-B” wine supply company whose customers include international retailers, national grocery and beverage chains, wineries and other wine companies. Plata’s offices are in Napa but winemaking and operations are performed in custom-crush facilities, currently including four wineries on the Central Coast, one in Lodi, three wineries in Napa and Sonoma as well as wine storage facilities, bottling plants and warehouses.

We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Enologist who is looking to move out of the cellar and into a sensory, strategy and logistics-focused role with room to grow.

General Responsibilities:
-Focus on maintaining a high level of wine quality through frequent communication with our facilities and wine laboratories, analysis data entry and tracking, and maintenance of our in-house wine library of current bulk inventory.

-Assist in new product development by organizing tasting records, ordering tank samples, performing bench trials, lending expertise on potential additives and fining agents, and building sample shipments, among other duties.

-Support bottling operations by tracking each bottling project’s status and stability, collecting quality control samples, and confirming/recording completion.

-Assist accounting team on cellar inventory in Winemakers Database. Data input of transactions, crush tag and reconciliation as needed.
-Help maintain an organized and clean working environment throughout the winemaking office.

-Understand and keep up to date on new wine technologies, new supplier products, and industry sustainability initiatives.

-Harvest responsibilities include Brix tracking, supply inventory tracking, assisting Winemakers in organizing vineyard data and ferment tasting notes; based on experience may assist with (or grow to assist with) vineyard scouting and fermentation lot tasting and QC.

Requirements:
-Bachelor’s Degree
-2+ harvests of winery experience
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
-Experience setting up wine bench trials with fining agents, etc measuring micro amounts into bottles and tasting samples
-Facility with translating units from gallons to cases and litres, ppm to g/gal, etc.
-Possess strong organizational, logistical and critical thinking skills along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
-Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
-Ability to lift up to 50lbs
-Valid driver’s license and ability to cover winery/vineyard visits as needed
-Availability to work a varied schedule during the harvest season as needed

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Enology, Chemistry, Viticulture or other related field
-2+ full years of winery experience
-Well-rounded knowledge of winemaking, fermentation, laboratory procedures, and harvest, bottling, and productions workflows
-Knowledge of winemaking regulatory requirements
-Proficiency with Winemaker’s Database software (WMDB) a plus
