About us:

The PlumpJack Collection of Wineries was formed in 2020 as the overarching brand for PlumpJack’s collection of Napa Valley Wineries. Each of our four wineries span the Napa Valley. Odette Estate located in the revered Stags Leap District gaining notoriety for producing the wine that won in 1973 at the Judgement of Paris. PlumpJack Winery located in the acclaimed Oakville AVA is home to some of the finest Cabernets in Napa Valley. CADE Estate Winery on Howell Mountain features unique, higher elevation terrain that produces distinctive characteristics due to its rocky, volcanic soil and cooler climate. Lastly, our 13th Vineyard is rooted in its history as the 13th bonded winery in California and is located adjacent to CADE Estate on Howell Mountain. All four feature award-winning estate wines and tasting experiences.

Purpose of the role:

Under the direction of the Winemaker, and the Assistant Winemaker, perform essential activities and operations required to craft all wines for Odette Estate Winery. Odette Estate is looking for a full-time cellar worker to join our small team in Napa's Stag's Leap District. Our focus is Cabernet Sauvignon with a dash of barrel fermented Chardonnay and pinch of Petite Sirah to round out the portfolio. Full time employment includes a robust benefits package and 33% control of music in the cellar.

Responsibilities:

Duties are reflective of being part of a small team. The position will require forklift skill, miles of pallet jacking barrels in the cave, meticulous sanitation, perfect barrel fills, efficient racking, statistical sampling, attentive additions, a keen palate during tastings, inventing productive tasks when it's slow, and a positive attitude when it's crunch time.

Other Duties Include:

  • Execute all general cellar activities.
  • Wine transfers, racking, and blending.
  • Barrel operations: Racking, filling, and topping.
  • Barrel maintenance: Upkeep, sanitation, and repairs.
  • Operate all harvest equipment.
  • Fermentation management
  • Setup and execute filtration.
  • Additions to must, juice, and wine
  • Sanitize all winery equipment and upkeep cleanliness of cellar.
  • Wine sampling
  • Grape sampling
  • Taste blend trials
  • Assist on bottling line.
  • Forklift operations with barrels, grapes, and case goods
  • Follow and observe all safety guidelines.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Candidate requirements:

  • Degree in Enology or its related field preferred
  • English fluency required
  • Minimum 2 years industry experience preferred.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and efficient.
  • Diplomatic and calm with strong verbal communication skills.
  • Courteous, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively with little supervision. Trustworthy and reliable.

Working Conditions:

Works indoors and outdoors throughout shift. Extensive facility, varied terrain.

Physical Demands:

Stands/walks 100% of shift. Works with all wine making equipment. Moderate use of computer. Moderate use of stairs/ladders, daily. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Extensive use of stairs/ladders during harvest.
