POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Owner, the General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the tasting room, farm store, club and guest experience at Greenhill Winery and Vineyards. This person will supervise the high-quality performance of the operation including the management and coordination of tasting room, farm store, and club house staff.

The General Manager will be responsible for leading and directing a) the overall sales and marketing strategy - including Market Positioning, hospitality, direct to consumer and wholesale sale channels, b) the winemaking process, c) vineyard operations and development, and d) winery administration. Such responsibilities will include managing the leadership already embedded in the company as well as developing a solid, long-term, world-class management and staff team. The position requires demonstrated success in luxury marketing strategies, retail/DTC sales, employee management, financial management, and operational policy formation as well as knowledge of the legal aspects of running a winery including federal and state government reporting responsibilities and compliance. The GM will need to provide exemplary leadership, creating a culture based on the company’s core values and embracing the management philosophy and vision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Successfully oversee and implement all aspects of tasting room, farm store, and club operations: sales plans and initiatives, customer service, inventory accuracy, cash reconciliation, shipping orders, local outreach.
•  Work closely with the Owner, CFO and Marketing team to create and adhere to annual and monthly strategic plans, as well as set sales goals, maintain a budget, and achieve annual revenue targets.
•  Oversee the following positions: Events & Farm Store Manager, Wine Club Manager, Tasting Room Manager, Manager on Duty, Tasting Associate, Busser, Bar Back, Host/Hostess, and Tour Guide. 
•  Oversee tasting room recruitment, interviews and hiring process.
•  Oversee tasting room staff training and education; ensure that all tasting room staff follows responsible hospitality standards at all times. 
•  Provide clear, on-going communication to tasting room, farm store, and club house staff providing consistent and timely direction; delegate responsibility as needed.
•  Provide strategic direction and leadership to tasting room, farm store, and club house staff through effective communication and enforcement of company policies and procedures, and department operations. 
•  Ensure that opening and closing procedures are properly followed. 
•  Ensure adequate and efficient staffing at all times while accommodating hours of operation, special events and staff requests for time off. 
•  Perform all duties relating to inventory counts for all products sold in the tasting room, farm store, and club house; conduct wine case inventory monthly.
•  Oversee the budget and ordering of supplies, food orders, merchandise, and farm store goods.
•  Possess commanding knowledge of POS system, including ability to effectively perform opening and closing procedures.
•  Resolve guest concerns/complaints using good judgment and professionalism and courtesy. 
•  Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards of the tasting room, farm store, and club house. 
•  Work with management to maintain an up-to-date tasting menu, signage, and promotional materials for the tasting room, farm store, and club house. 
•  Coordinate and attend team meetings; communicate tasting room issues and status to the management team.
•  Assist in planning and coordination of winery events (off-site and on-site); assist musicians/entertainment on weekends with set up, take down etc. 
•  Work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the winery, including evening and weekend shifts.
•  Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATION: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
•  Strong written and oral communication skills. 
•  Strong attention to detail. 
•  Ability to problem solve in stressful situations.
•  Experience with Vinsuite, eWinery Solutions or similar.
•  Experience with Napa Valley POS or similar.
•  Experience with Hotschedules, Humanity or similar scheduling software.
•  Highly customer service oriented. 
•  Strong proficiency using MS Word, and Excel.
•  Passion for knowledge of fine wine and willingness to learn more. 
•  Excellent hospitality, sales, organizational, and customer service skills. 
•  Must be available and willing to work evenings and weekends. 
•  Ability to stand on one’s feet for extended periods of time. 
•  Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs. 

COMPENSATION: 
Salary commensurate with experience. Commission opportunities available.
