Winery Ambassador (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Are you a natural story teller who loves working with people? Are you passionate about Oregon wine? Willamette Valley Vineyards is searching for an energetic and customer-focused Winery Ambassador to join our team of Oregon wine enthusiasts!

Primary Job Responsibilities/Requirements

Sales

  • Winery Ambassadors offer Willamette Valley Vineyards’ customers a pleasurable and memorable experience while selling them wine and other wine-related accessories, experiences and/or private labels.
  • Sales are made primarily by building and maintaining relationships with customers all over the country by phone, email and by entertaining them at the winery with tours and tastings.
  • Conduct private tour and tastings, seated tastings, on-site events, off-site events, Pairings Wine Dinners and daily tours.
  • Placing orders for wine and following up to be sure the wine is received.
  • Keeping customers informed of new releases, specials, events and other opportunities to engage with the winery.
  • Attend weekly department meetings with the team at the winery or by phone.
  • Attend sales training, wine education seminars and complete wine education courses.
  • Provide assistance in the Estate Tasting Room when customer traffic dictates a need.  

Sales Expectations

  • Winery Ambassadors are expected to meet performance standards, including daily call volumes, being a participating team member, regular workplace attendance, and achieving monthly sales goals. 

Requirements

  • Must be: 
    • Able to lift 40 lbs.
    • Able to communicate through active listening skills and gather accurate insights into human behavior. 
    • Able to meet and exceed sales goals.
    • Able to use standard CRM, POS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Independently motivated to generate sales for Willamette Valley Vineyards.
    • Team-focused and be ready and willing to reasonably assist in other areas of the business as needed.
    • Willing to work on-site winery events. Most of these events are held over holiday weekends such as Memorial Day and Thanksgiving.
    • Able to maintain an average of at least 20 outbound phone calls per day.
  • Must have:
    • OLCC and Food Handler's permit or ability to obtain one.
    • Highly-developed organizational and time management skills. Ability to multi-task, work independently and as part of a team. Build team dynamics and synergy across departments. 
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Thorough understanding and genuine interest in luxury wine business and terminology.
    • Ability to educate customers about wine with passion, not pretension.
  • Prior sales and/or customer service experience preferred.
