POSITION OVERVIEW:
Brittan Vineyards is currently searching for a dynamic person to fill a unique role as a full-time, seasonal vineyard worker over the busy growing and harvest seasons. This is a working position that will include daily physical labor and equipment operation over a wide variety of tasks. We are a small team with a 28-acre vineyard in the McMinnville AVA of the Willamette Valley, planted to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. With a winery located in downtown McMinnville, OR, we craft thoughtful, site-expressive Pinot noir and Chardonnay from a carefully farmed, acclaimed vineyard. We believe that great wine is made with intent, thoughtfulness and vigilance. This position is an integral part of the Brittan Vineyard team and is involved with all aspects of grape growing and winemaking, from bud-break to barreling down.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Vineyard
• Some tractor work, including mowing, cultivating, and spraying
• Canopy management
• Vineyard sampling and data analysis
• Weed and pest management
• Working with vineyard crews, as needed
• Preparing and planting new blocks
• Other landscaping and facility management tasks, as instructed
Cellar:
• Assist with fruit processing
• General cleaning, sanitation and maintenance of winery and equipment
• Participate in harvest activities including cap management, additions, racking, pressing and barreling
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Background in agriculture and/or cellar work
• Degree or studies in related field is a plus
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• High level of interest and motivation for agriculture and the wine industry
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Some Spanish Language proficiency is a plus
• Tractor and forklift experience is a plus
• The ability to work independently or as part of a small team
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to work irregular shifts, long hours and weekends, when required
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs
• Ability to work on feet for extended time periods
• Ability to drag wine hoses, climb ladders and stairs and work at elevated heights
• Ability to work extended hours in any weather conditions
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Possession of or ability to obtain Oregon driver’s license
• Ability to be trained to operate a tractor and forklift
