Do you want to take part in creating a vineyard from the ground up? Our ideal candidate loves to work outdoors, understands hard work, communicates well, and comes to us with hands-on viticulture or agriculture experience. The ideal person will lead by example and work hard to ensure that all vineyard operations run smoothly and efficiently, understanding the importance of both leadership and teamwork. This person will be taking on a huge responsibility and will be ready on Day One to manage, learn, and utilize all their resources to get the job done!

Requirements: 

• Understanding of vineyard/farm management practices and procedures 

• Willingness to do any and all functions required to operate the vineyard

• A strong and proven work ethic 

• Must have strong computer skills and the ability to multi-task

• Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills 

• Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills 

Duties\Responsibilities for all aspects of managing the vineyard, including but not limited to:

• Manages and schedules Viticultural activities to maintain healthy and productive vines.

• Cultivation, thinning, pruning, tying, suckering, canopy management, planting, and replanting, irrigating and harvesting.

• Handles pest, fungicide, and herbicide application in accordance with safe viticultural practices.

• Irrigation maintenance; monitors progress and reports recommendations related to vineyard and fruit quality

• Coordinates erosion control, trellis installation, irrigation installation, frost protection, vineyard installation, fence installation and R&M.

• Provide and acquire proper tools for all jobs and ensures that all necessary equipment is on site and in good operating condition prior to work

• Maintains orderly inventory of Vineyard equipment and tools.

• Ensures county, state and federal regulation compliance.

• Reasonably estimates harvest equipment needed; provides accurate harvest estimates; works within assigned budgets.

• Search out and evaluate vineyard problems and make recommendations that provide effective, timely and economic solutions and deliver quality fruit

• Works with Director of Operations to develop vineyard job descriptions; participates in the hiring, onboarding and management of vineyard staff.

• Effectively communicate and work cooperatively with support staff

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture, Agriculture or other related field or minimum 7 years vineyard experience

• At least two years of supervisory or managerial experience.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to be insured on company vehicles.

• Due to the nature of our business, must be at least 21 years of age.

• Possession of a pesticide application license or the ability to apply for one

*Must be able to pass rigorous background check & COVID vaccinated or willing to take scheduled testing

Salary $85,000 - $120,000 dependent on experience
