Wine Sales Associate (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

A locally owned business in Malta, NY, is looking for a highly motivated person to work in their fast-paced wine and liquor shop.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual, who has a firm understanding of the importance of customer service. Those who foster a sense of urgency, ownership and teamwork standout among the rest. A willingness to have to have fun, teach and educate our customers, while maintaining a professional atmosphere is expected in order to maximize repeat visits.

We have a business casual work environment and offer competitive pay. Must be able to pass background check and pre-employment drug testing.

Job requirements are:

• Knowledge and interest and/or in-depth in Wine and Spirits.
• Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers at all times.
• Must be available to work occasional nights, holidays and weekends.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to bend, climb ladders and lift up to 40 lbs.

• Minimum 3 years combined experience of customer service, retail and/or in the hospitality industry and wine certification are a plus.
Work Expectations: Responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism with clients and working to establish a positive rapport with every customer.

• Work with the management team to stay updated on product knowledge and be informed of any changes in company policies.
• Maintain stock levels of all products and displays.

• Answers incoming customer calls.
• Update customer information in the customer service database and have basic computer skills.
• Cash Handling, balancing cash and charge receipts daily.

• Contribute to maintaining cleanliness and organization of sales floor, office area and storage areas
• Receiving deliveries and stocking to designated areas.
