Retail Buyer and Merchandiser (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

Malibu Wine Safari is seeking a merchandiser/buyer for its retail store.  This is a unique opportunity to conceive and develop an entirely new concept at an extremely in demand destination.  The best candidates will have a background in purchasing as well as merchandising for specialty retail locations.  They will also be highly motivated to create a complementary experience to the Wine Safari – to offer our guests lasting memories of their visit to Saddlerock Ranch.

Description:

  • Set up retail store within MWS check-in area
  • Initial purchase of fixtures and display items
  • Source branded and un-branded merchandise
  • Product knowledge (staff stuff)
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels
  • Negotiate contracts to ensure best deal possible
  • Place orders and ensure appropriate stock levels
  • Merchandise retail store
  • With GM, set appropriate pricing
  • Collaborating with buyers, suppliers, distributors and analysts to negotiate prices, quantities and time-scales
  • Plan and develop merchandising strategies that balance customers’ expectations and company’s objectives
  • Maximize customer interest and sales levels by displaying products appropriately
  • Produce layout plans for stores and maintain store shelves and inventory
  • Forecast profits/sales and plan budgets
  • Monitor stock movement and consider markdowns, promotions, price changes, clear outs etc
  • Build constructive customer relationships and team with channel partners to build pipeline
  • Remain up to date with industry’s best practices

Requirements:

  • Proven working experience in merchandising
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Up-to-date with the latest merchandising trends and best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong listening, presentation and decision-making skills
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to “decode” customers
  • Passion for animal welfare
