PortoVino:
PortoVino is a small-medium sized national importer of mosty Italian wines, but with small but growing section of edgy German, Austrian, and Spanish wines. All our team has a deep love for European culture, food and wine.

As on our site: For over 15 years, we’ve been travelling Europe’s backroads to create a collection of terroir-driven wines that excite us: traditional producers and fringe outliers, all are organic, biodynamic, or implementing a combined approach with a list of best practices. We’re not the too cool for school crowd. We’re about sourcing, drawing the line in line sand, searching for beauty. We find great producers and get their wines in the right hands.
We have deep connections in Italy, Germany, Austria, Spain, where some of our team lives and updates the U.S.
We are diverse group of people, a mix of cultures, languages and ideas; introverted and extroverted personalities both. We are fun-loving, creative, rambunctious yet responsible.

Candidate:
Willing and able to visit accounts 4 days a week; one day a week would be administrative day. A grinder but tactical.
Outgoing, with an energetic personality and genuine love of selling European wine, especially Italy.
Searched out for drinks, dinner and wine-talk by fellow industry colleagues.
Excited about all of the parts of our portfolio: edgy geeky wines, cool daily drinkers, traditional producers.
Confident in assessing and discussing a range of styles of wine: natural, classic, fine, etc.
Eager to engage, learn and enjoy all phases of the sale and promotion cycle: prospecting, courting, presenting, closing, maintaining, tracking.
Self-managing, and learns from peer critique.
A life-long learner, with constant improvement of soft and hard skills.
Fluid in all communication mediums: social, email, phone, text, and in person.

Required Prerequisites:
Must have lived in your current city for at least 18 months.
Ability to lift a 12-pack case of wine.
A car with proof of valid driver’s license and insurance.
2 years of experience working in the wine or restaurant or connected industry (server, workers at wine shop, sommelier).
Detailed knowledge and at least weekly drinking of European wines at home and/or work.
Professional and/or personal connections to a range of wine industry people, including in restaurants and retail shops.

Compensation:
Base salary; insurance stipend; commission on sales; bonuses; monthly expenses. Staff trip to Italy once a year.
