Job Description
We are an upscale wine, spirits, and “fancy ass” grocery store seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Sales Associate to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys speaking about wine, world class spirits, and high-quality products, through exceptional customer service, and helping customers find the perfect bottle or gourmet item for any occasion.
Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service in a welcoming and professional manner
- Assist customers with wine, spirits, and specialty grocery selections based on preferences, occasion, and budget
- Maintain strong product knowledge and stay informed on new and seasonal items
- Accurately process sales transactions and handle cash and credit payments
- Stock shelves, organize displays, and assist with inventory management
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor
- Assist with in-store tastings, promotions, and special events as needed
- Follow all company policies and state/local regulations regarding alcohol sales, including ID verification
Qualifications
- Previous retail, grocery, wine, spirits, or hospitality experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide personalized recommendations and build rapport with customers
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Must meet legal age requirements to sell alcohol in California
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in specialty retail, wine shops, or fine dining
- Wine or spirits education (WSET, CMS, or similar certifications)
- Passion for food, wine, and high-quality products

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 30.0 per week
