POSITION SUMMARY

Peltier Winery is seeking a full-time cellar employee. This position will be an integral part of our small cellar team. Duties include assisting in all crush operations, barrel work, wine movement, bottling preparation, cellar sanitation, cellar organization, and special projects.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assignments include but are not limited to: harvest activities, racking, pumping, clarifying and  blending of juice and wine, checking and topping tanks to proper fill levels

  • Responsible for sanitation of all areas of the cellar, including power washing, tank or equipment sterilization

  • Crush Assignments include: operating crusher/presses, moving hoses/equipment, obtaining lab samples, weighing trucks, disposing of lees and cleaning equipment

  • Knowledge of proper forklift operation required, including case goods and barrel handling

  • Ability to bring forth cellar issues and give suggestions for improvement of quality and procedures


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a cellar position.

  • Must have a valid California driver’s license.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & OTHER ABILITIEs

  •  Able to work a flexible schedule as needed, including extra hours during harvest

  •  Experience operating winery equipment

  •  Forklift experience preferred


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to climb stairs and be comfortable with heights

  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on a repetitive basis and work standing up on   concrete surfaces for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to work in cold and damp cellar environment
