Assistant Director - Beverage

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director – Beverage is to provide leadership needed to ensure world class beverage service. This position is responsible for the management of cocktail servers, in accordance with hotel standards. Direct, implement, and maintain a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff. 

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee cocktail beverage service on casino floors.
  • Monitor cocktail server performance ensuring that all procedures are carried out to departmental standards and resolve any deficiencies.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards relating to beverage cocktail service.
  • Efficiently and accurately focus on improving service quality.
  • Ensure cocktail server productivity is maintained.
  • Review weekly surveillance footage to confirm server productivity.
  • Oversee lounge cocktail servers and monitor performance.
  • Assist and resolve all guest challenges, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing cocktail server training initiatives for the casino floor and unique service training for lounge.
  • Inspect grooming and attire of cocktail servers; resolve any deficiencies.
  • Assist staff with job functions to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Review all cocktail service feedback from guests on company survey platform.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Inspect bar set-ups; check for cleanliness, neatness, and agreement departmental standards; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel.
  • Conduct pre-shift meeting with staff and review all information pertinent to the day's business.
  • Anticipate guest’s needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests.
  • Develop and maintain manual back-up system & procedures.
  • Management responsibilities include hiring, promotions, creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, discipline, recognition, and termination.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Company Standards of Conduct

All The Venetian Resort Team Members are expected to always conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner. Team Members are required to observe the Company’s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. College degree or equivalent practical experience preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • 3 years’ experience as a Food and Beverage Manager.
  • Preferred previous cocktail server experience.
  • Previous guest relations training.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Know specifications of glassware and garnishes for drinks.
  • Know schedule for in-house group activities, locations, and times.
  • Certification of previous training in liquor, wine, and food service.
  • Have knowledge of the description of wines, beers, liquors offered in department.
  • Computer experience with Word and Excel (or similar).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 20 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
