Job Requirements: 
Education: Viticulture or Plant Science or Plant Pathology preferred or Viticulture and Horticulture working experience with 5-10 years in vineyards
Must have experience with Microsoft Office
Must have prior management and supervisory capabilities
Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly

•  Problem Solving - Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.
•  Safety Awareness and Accountability - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety, be responsible for personal safety and safety of others, adhere to company policies and procedures.

•  Ability to maintain positive work atmosphere by communicating effectively with clients, management, peers, and subordinates.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to weather conditions often involving heat, cold, humidity, and other extremes.
The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud and involves moving mechanical parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Vineyard Supervision: 
•  Establish an annual budget for vineyard operations, including development, vine training, fertilization, canopy management, harvest, spray program, and a purchase order system for all materials, etc.
•  Oversees hiring and staff needs as well as technical performance of crew in daily operations as well as evaluate performance reviews.
•  Implement, monitor and maintains records of vineyard operations (work orders, irrigation, pest treatment, pruning/canopy management, harvest, etc.).
•  In coordination with the winemaker, choosing plant varieties, new vineyard plantings, maturity sampling and harvest scheduling.
•  Oversees maintenance of all vineyard equipment.
2. Viticulturist:
•  Scheduling the purchase and application of pesticides and fertilizers in compliance with local county farming practices and regulations.
•  Performing pruning, canopy management, fruit thinning, netting/animal control, etc.
•  Maintaining soil management (tillage, cover crop planting, etc.)
•  Implement farm machinery calibration protocols.
•  Maintain and analyze pest and fertility reports.
•  Attend technical meetings and seminars pertinent to vineyard cultural practices
•  Open communication and scheduled meetings with the winemaker

3. Record Keeping: 
•  Implement vineyard data collection such as shoot growth, leaf water potential, pest monitoring, berry quality parameters, disease pressures (mold, mildew, rot detection), etc.
•  Maintain vineyard block maps and replacement of dead or missing plants; create post-harvest summary of tons per variety, tons per block, for accounting. 
•  Maintain Pesticide Operators License and pesticide records and submit monthly Pesticide Use Reports (PUR) as required by management and for availability to County.
•  Keep records of labor input for vineyard tasks for all workers

4. Vineyard Operation Safety 
•  Work with HR and local county regulations
•  Train and document all safety procedures including tractor safety, pesticide training, small equipment usage, and personal safety procedures.
•  Issue Personal Protection equipment (PPE) to all workers
•  Insure worker safety in spray environments and posting of signage in spray zones
•  Maintain all safety training and documentation including (MSDS/ SDS)

Supervisory Responsibilities: 
This job has direct supervisory responsibilities for the technical performance of multiple seasonal vineyard workers of varying backgrounds and any supervisory personnel
