Retail Wine Consultant (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Job Summary:

To develop knowledge and a passion for wine through education and experience in order to provide excellent service to customers and ultimately fulfill the sales goals in the wine department.

Job Duties:

1. Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by providing a friendly atmosphere which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, consulting on product selection, assisting with purchase and carry out and any other component of excellent service.
2. Be safety oriented by following all known safety procedures and utilizing good operational, loss prevention and safety judgment at all times.
3. Assist with inventory controls (Generate/Receive PO's, Monthly Inventory Counts)
4. Be compliant with all policies and procedures.
5. Ensure appropriate wine merchandise stock levels, wine merchandise displays; ensure selling floor is adequately stocked.
6. Analyze and measure sale trends and reports; develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals and objectives.
7. Develop and maintain knowledge through continuing education on wine.
8. Any other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.

Job Requirements:

1. Must be minimum 21 years of age
2. High School Diploma or equivalent
3. Ability to read, count and write and communicate accurately in English
4. Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
5. Solid communication skills and willingness to work well with Supervisor and Co-Workers in a team environment
6. Ability to accurately and quickly process information through POS register system
7. Willingness to work a flexible schedule to include a combination of mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift (up to 8 hours). Must be able to stoop, bend, grasp, and perform repetitive motions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Must be able to move large quantities of merchandise with carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other moving equipment. Some walking and stair climbing may be required.
