Flowers Vineyard and Winery is looking for wine-savvy industry professionals to join our team for the 2018 harvest. As a pioneer of the extreme Sonoma Coast, our estate vineyards are at the heart of our winemaking program. Additionally, we work with a collection of small growers throughout the diverse sub-regions of the appellation to provide depth and diversity to our Sonoma Coast blends. At our gravity-flow winery, we employ native yeast fermentation in order to craft Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that reflect the distinct place in which they are grown. 

Flowers Vineyard and Winery is one brand in the Huneeus Vintners family. Our sister brands include: Quintessa, Illumination, Leviathan, Faust and Benton-Lane (based in OR). This position may provide support to Faust, based in Sebastopol, depending on Harvest business needs at each site.

Essential Duties:

Vintage cellar hands will engage hands-on with the production team through all aspects of the winemaking process. Job will start at the end of July/early August, and has the potential to go until mid-November. Candidates must possess a passion for wine, be quality-focused and have a willingness to work hard. Hours can be long during the peak of harvest. Must be able to maintain a good attitude and work ethic during the long days. 

Tasks include, but are not limited to, fruit receival, crushpad operations, punchdowns and fermentation management, forklift operation, laboratory/daily wine analysis, sanitation, barrel prep, barrel filling, and pressing.

•  Previous experience preferred, but not required 
•  Interest in learning, willingness to ask questions

•  Detail-oriented, finishes tasks to completion
•  Strong work ethic
•  Ability to work in a team, communicate productively 
•  Proactive positive attitude
•  Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols

Physical Requirements:

•  Work 8 to 12 hours per day or as required in a physically-demanding environment
•  Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays 
•  Ability to lift 50 lbs. and occasionally lift 100 pounds.
•  Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in changing weather conditions
•  Able to stand for long periods of time
•  Able to walk on flat and sloped terrain
•  Requires the ability to sit bend, stoop, twist, and walk over uneven surfaces for prolonged periods of time
•  Manual dexterity sufficient to use a variety of hand tools without experiencing abnormal strain
