Kivelstadt Cellars is a growing winery which tries to challenge the perception of traditional California wine by creating unique wines that showcase the best California sites, with a distinct new age twist, and a heavy emphasis on sustainability and environmental stewardship. With only a handful of employees, members of the Kivelstadt team wear a lot of hats, and this position is no different. While the main focus of the role is day-to-day tasting room operations, and making sure things run smoothly as we launch our new project, we’re also looking for people who can grow with our brand. • Oversight and execution of day-to-day tasting room activities including hosting tastings, sales of wine and wine club memberships, order and data entry, setup and cleanup as well as maintaining a clean environment.
• Assisting VP of Hospitality with web order fulfillment, execution of wine club shipments, and other duties.
Job Requirements:
• Wine knowledge is an obvious benefit, but passion and excitement for wine is a must. Facts can be taught, passion can’t.
• Our tasting room staff is the face or our winery, so applicants must display a professional appearance and demeanor, have a warm and engaging personality, and be able to tell a good story.
• As we are such a small team, the willingness and ability to step in where needed and be self-directed is paramount. We’re looking for people who aren’t afraid to take initiative and ownership.
• Naturally dynamic sales skills, especially the ability to sell memberships.
• Demonstrates computer proficiency, including data entry, and ability to navigate POS system.
• Has high school diploma or GED; certificate in wine education or college degree preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be able to work Saturday and Sunday, and schedule flexibility is a plus.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds repeatedly
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to effectively stock wine, execute set-up and break down procedures and equipment.
• Ability to understand and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
Compensation: Hourly DOE and skills. Compensation includes health benefits, pro-rata share of tips, and commissions.
