Tasting Room Manager

Forgotten Barrel is one of Escondido’s newest members of the growing San Diego wine community! We have recently opened our tasting room located on the historic grounds of the former Ferrara Winery.
We have an immediate opening for an experienced Tasting Room Manager. We are looking for a dedicated individual that will assist us with managing the daily tasting room operations, helping us grow our wine club membership, assisting with developing and working at wine club events and managing marketing and social media. Our Tasting Room is currently open Friday-Sunday. This is subject to change depending on growth.
This position will be responsible for the following:
- Supervise and train Tasting Room staff.
-Develop and mentor staff to ensure the customer experience is exceptional.
-Motivate and assist with developing sales goals.
-Maintain accurate count of daily inventory and bottles opened/consumed in the Tasting Room.
-Assist with physical inventory counts of wine and product merchandise.
- Understand POS functionality and train staff on proper usage (Vin65 experience is preferred)
- Responsible for the opening, closing and daily operations of the cash register.
-Maintain an organized and stocked wine tasting room.
- Ensure all policies, procedures, and applicable employment laws are being followed.
-Prepare work schedules for tasting room staff.
-Collaborate with other members of the team and execute quarterly wine club release events.
-Ensure the tasting room and grounds are clean and welcoming.
-Pour wine tastings, flights and glass pours while talking about our wine.
-Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Prior management experience in wine, beverage or hospitality industry
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills
-Knowledge of wines and wine production
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
-Available to work weekends, holidays and special events
-Team Player
-Must be 21 years of age or older
-Able to work outside as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
-TIPS Certified (or a similar course)
-Solid understanding of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Yelp
- Experience with Vin65 POS system
-Knowledge of wine club memberships
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Computer skills including MS office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Internet browsers, etc
Physical Requirements:
-Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
-Able to stand for extended periods of time
