Bas Rouge, one of Maryland’s most distinguished dining destinations and flagship of Bluepoint Hospitality, is seeking an exceptional service professional to join our Sommelier team. An 8‑time Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence recipient, Bas Rouge delivers an elevated fine‑dining experience defined by warm hospitality, thoughtful cuisine, and world class wine service.
The kitchen is led by Bas Rouge Executive Chef Phil Lind, alongside James Beard Award winning Bluepoint Executive Chef Harley Peet, offering a culinary program that pairs seamlessly with our extensive wine offerings.
This is a remarkable opportunity for an early career or developing sommelier to gain hands-on experience with one of the region’s most comprehensive and serious wine programs. The successful candidate will work closely with the service team to create memorable guest experiences through confident, knowledgeable wine service.
Role Highlights
- Tableside wine service as a core component of the guest experience
- Exposure to nearly 1,300 labels, with strengths in France, Germany, Austria, Northern Italy, and the United States
- Direct mentorship as an understudy to Wine Director Felipe de Assis Villela, whose background includes winemaking in five countries and Wine Director roles at some of New York’s highest‑grossing steakhouses
- Hands‑on involvement in cellar organization, inventory, and wine list maintenance
Ideal Candidate
- Fine‑dining experience required
- Strong service instincts and hospitality mindset
- Intellectual curiosity, humility, and a genuine passion for wine
- Certification path (CMS / WSET) encouraged but not required

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
