Vineyard Manager (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Argyle Winery is currently recruiting for an experienced Vineyard Manager. This full-time role is responsible for management of the farming team, activities and equipment at one of Argyle’s vineyards.  The 127 acre prestige vineyard is located in Dundee, the heart of Oregon Wine Country. The role works with Argyle’s Viticultural Manager and Winery team to ensure grape supply is in line with quality and quantity requirements and that vineyard productivity and farming efficiency is continually improved.

 

Key responsibilities of the role include;

 

·         Vineyard managed in line with budget

·         Grape quality optimized

·         Timely execution of key viticultural activities

·         Maintenance of vineyard records

·         Maintain and promote Safety program, schedule key trainings and ensure compliance to safety protocol and OSHA standards

·         Manage the upkeep and routine maintenance of vineyard equipment

·         Maintain a high level of communication with winery team

·         Develop and communicate long range plans for capital requirements

·         Work with vendors to lower costs of inputs

·         Keep abreast of developments in the industry relative to viticulture

·         Actively involved in continuing education and training as it relates to solving problems and identifying better solutions

·         Provide training, coaching and feedback to direct reports

·         Develop and maintain a culture that promotes the ability for individuals to succeed in an environment that is supportive

·         Deal with people in a fair and consistent manner

·         Develops strong cross-functional working relationships at all levels

 

Skills and Experience:

·         Min. 5 years’ experience managing a farming team, preferably in the Willamette Valley

·         Bachelors Degree in Viticulture or closely associated field of study is preferred

·         MS Outlook, Excel and Word proficiency

·         Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) required

·         Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build a strong and cohesive team

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills

·         Open minded, forward thinking and adaptive to change

·         Knowledge of, and ability to operate heavy machinery and farming equipment essential and ability to lift/carry weights of up to 50 pounds
