Assistant Winemaker – Holloran Vineyard Wines, Dundee, OR

The Assistant Winemaker will perform a full array of winery & cellar activities including but not limited to

  • Fermentation management

  • Harvest logistics including fruit receiving, queueing, and processing

In addition to comprehensive knowledge of winemaking practices, the candidate should possess strong organizational, administrative and communication skills. Timeliness & punctuality are required attributes. Working with a positive attitude is also an important part of the job.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage day-to-day details while working towards our winemaking goals
Working at the direction of our Winemaker to manage all aspects of the cellar to ensure quality and operational efficiency.
Participate in sensory evaluations and blending trials as needed.
Assist with winery events for our direct customers
Responsible for maintaining all cellar/production chemicals, including but not limited to compressed gasses and cleaning/sanitation chemicals.
Responsible for maintaining facility equipment and coordinating necessary repairs.
Working knowledge of modern sanitation protocols and ability to identify issues, and implement ideas to improve current sanitation practices.
Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow. Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Other duties as assigned.

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

-B.S. or Associate degree in Enology/Viticulture or related field preferred. 2 years+ of experience making wine in a commercial winery is required.
-Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
-Must be able to perform complex calculations.
-Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
