Camelot Cellars in Columbus, OH is seeking an experienced Winemaker that is a motivated and hardworking individual with years of previous winemaking experience. Successful candidates should have great communication, organization, and planning skills including the use of computer systems. This position is part-time.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and review all activities pertaining to winemaking, including but not limited to: receipt of juice/wine, chemical and ingredient additions, racks, transfers, clarification, blends, shipping, and final preparation for bottling.

• Performs audits of production activities ensuring appropriate sanitation and production procedures are followed.

• Attends production meetings to assist in coordination of tasks between winemaking and production.

• Sensory excellence, demonstrating knowledge of faults and aromas

• Participates in formal and informal tastings. Must have advanced wine tasting skills including: ability to detect and discriminate subtle differences in wine, such as acidity, alcohol, tannins, fruit and wood flavors, flaws, and textural and mouth feel elements.

• Assist in managing experimental winemaking – data collection, sample collection, monitoring fermentations.

• Responsible for site safety and compliance with company procedures in cellar operations, and with regard to wine quality and costs. Maintains safety and compliance programs as mandated by company and regulatory agency standards.

• Establish and maintain daily, monthly, and annual production schedules, maintenance records, and inventory records.

• Provides support and training for all employees; building through consultation a culture based on managing risk with responsibility and accountability; and encouraging open communication with all stakeholders on health, safety, and environmental issues.

•Must be satisfied with the success of others as the direct reflection of their hard work and integrity.

• Performs special projects as required.

• Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

• Ability to think both analytically and subjectively.

• Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate closely with other members of the Winery's team.

• Computer literacy in software applications MS Word and Excel required.

• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

• Strong organizational and time management skills. Attention to detail. Ability to multi task.

• Ability to adapt and be flexible within a changing work environment. Willing to work flexible and extended hours when necessary (graveyard shift during harvest).

• Must be at least 21 years of age

• Capable of lifting 75 pounds and be in good physical condition.

• Ability to contribute to a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a manner that works positively with clients, customers, co-workers and management.

• Three (3) years of experience working in a winery, one (1) years leading or supervising others preferred.

• Strong leadership skills. Ability to motivate and mentor members of the winemaking and production teams.   

• Bachelor's degree in Enology, Winemaking, Viticulture, Fermentation Science, Plant Science, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biological Engineering or Chemical Engineering plus 3 years of Enology, Winemaking, Viticulture or Chemistry experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
