POSITION SUMMARY:  

Tasting room employees are the public relations ambassadors of Bogle Vineyards. As such, tasting room personnel provide a warm welcome to all guests and provide a beyond-expectations experience, allowing guests to sample and purchase wine and merchandise. As a liaison between Bogle and the public, tasting room employees must demonstrate warmth, a sense of integrity, efficiency, and a growing knowledge about Bogle wines. Successful members of the tasting room team will consistently display a positive, unflappable, can-do attitude at all times while providing excellent and accommodating customer service to each and every guest that visits Bogle. In addition to general tasting room duties, tasting room employees will also be assigned to work a variety of winery events throughout the year. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Service Standards: Tasting room staff absolutely must be friendly, courteous and capable of interacting with a wide variety of personalities in a professional and gracious manner, with an eagerness to meet the needs of each and every guest. Accommodating, upbeat and inspired to make every guest’s experience special are just a few of the traits that this position requires. Must be a self-starter that works efficiently with limited direction to identify needs of the business and implement solutions effectively.   
  • Work schedule: Part time schedule determined by management and published monthly. This position is paid on an hourly basis. Must be willing and available to work frequent weekends, evenings and holidays.    
  • Computer and technology skills: Basic knowledge of Windows-based software including Outlook, retail POS operation, cash handling, and multi-line phone systems. 
  • Experience: Must be at least 21 years of age. At least 2 years retail customer service experience required. Experience working in a public relations or hospitality capacity is a plus. Experience in a food service/events/catering or similarly fast paced environment strongly preferred. Some wine knowledge is preferred but not required. 
  • Travel requirements: May include occasional local travel to off-site wine tastings; valid driver’s license and insurance coverage required.  

 

MINIMUM SHIFT REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Attend occasional paid staff meetings. 
  • Ability to work 2+ weekends per month. 
  • Must remain available to work 10-15 specific high-demand dates throughout the year if needed. A list of these mandatory dates will be provided by the manager at the beginning of the year and final monthly schedules will be published at least 2 weeks prior to each month.  

 

JOB DUTIES:  

  • Greet all arriving guests and provide a brief summary of wine tasting at Bogle 
  • Provide a memorable wine tasting experience to numerous groups of guests simultaneously while remaining focused on the responsible service of alcohol. 
  • Assist with all elements of winery and private event set up, execution, and break-down as instructed by the tasting room management team. 
  • Operate cash registers to sell wine, merchandise, wine club memberships and to collect wine tasting fees. 
  • Various opening, closing and mid-shift duties, including but not limited to: restocking of wine and merchandise, maintaining food item displays with attention to proper perishable food rotation, receiving, pricing and displaying of all newly received retail merchandise, cleaning tasting bars, tasting room floors and restrooms, removing garbage and recycling from tasting room and picnic grounds, cleaning and arranging picnic tables, bussing picnic tables. 
  • Assist management with the effective, tactful and professional enforcement of various winery policies regarding guest use of the facility. 
  • Assist guests with large purchases by delivering cases of wine to guest vehicles via the use of a hand truck. 
  • Provide accurate information about Bogle Vineyards, Clarksburg wine country and the Sacramento Delta. 
  • Provide accurate information about our wine club and encourage guests to sign up. 
  • Utilize proper safety techniques at all times (i.e. hand-cart, lifting, glass handling etc.) 
  • Perform any other duties requested by the tasting room management team. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to walk, lift, bend, reach, twist and stoop for up to 8 hours/day. Must be able to lift 55 pounds frequently. Ability to operate various types of machinery to include, but not limited to, lift trucks, hand trucks, dishwashers, etc.
